I opted to get mine personlized by the company. They asked if I wanted my name and title on it. I laughed, "what title?" wouldn't RN be a little presumptuous of me? Seeing as I hadn't even started my first semester yet. lol I didn't want SN on it either because I hope to become an RN. No title at all. I just had first initial of first name and full last name. Works for me, but I still wish it was more of a bubble gum pink. That's OK, some of the proceeds went to Breast cancer awareness.

I have a neon bright pink stethoscope. It's a cheapy(I'm just in first semester....figure I'll invest in a better one at another point).
First week of clinicals my instructor said..."MY THAT STETHOSCOPE IS BRIGHT!!! What made you pick THAT!?"
I jokingly said, "Well, I'm a pretty bright gal so I thought it was a good match!". She laughed and let it go.(Luckily I made an A on the next test!)

We ordered some through a vendor through school (Littman's) and you should have seen the variety of colors that we each opened when they were delivered!! Funny thing is, once they're wrapped around your neck, you hardly notice them or what color they are!!
Have a great time getting the perfect stethoscope for you!!

The wilder the better, IMHO. Somehow I just can't see someone named tofutti doing boring black. LOL.

Mine is a crazy color, and I luuuuuvvvvvvv it. And who cares what anyone else thinks?! [O my, I wonder if that means I'm getting old???]

There's enough seriousness on the hospital floor that can't be helped. Why not give your patients something to smile about?

Go for the color, #1 it won't walk off on you.. (it happens!!) #2 like wdwpixie says, around your neck they won't matter! #3 you can always change the tubing later if you don't like it, or cover it with a steth sock, one Dr. on my clinical floor has a Steelers cover, and changes it all the time! Pt. and staff will judge you for you not your steth!

Orange is for me! I spent many days scouring catalogs and on line for an uncommon color so it wouldn't walk off but all I saw were the usual dark colors or flourescents. I then went into my local scrub shop and found the perfect color for me. Orange, a pumpkin orange.

I don't think that your steth. color will make patients and other nurses think less of you.

tofutti this is funny because my first stethoscope in school was bright orange...then for xmas last year I got a breast cancer pink Littman. I was more excited about getting that than anything else. It was the exact one I wanted. I think people take me seriously and it breaks the ice sometimes because people comment they like the colors instead of black ones. Mine was also inscribed so there is no way it is going to walk and me not be able to identify it...it has my name and says I love you!!!....

I like color, so I found a neon green stethoscope and love it. No one can walk off with it!! I also use a pair of neon green bandage scissors and highlighter, no everyone of my co-workers knows who the green stuff belongs too. !!!!!
The green is the color of my smiley and most of my patients love my wild colors says it helps to brighten their stay and brings a smile to their face.

My first stethoscope as an EMT was a sprague. You can get replacement tubing, so I got one teal tube and one hot pink tube. I wore it for probably six years in EMS... because it was so unusual, it always found its way back to me.

Today I have a gray Littman, but I always wear crazy covers over it. I have enough that I can throw it in the washer with my uniform after every shift.
