I Need Help With A Present For My Wife

Hi all, my wife is currently a BSN student in her 3rd semester of her nursing program. She told me that for Christmas this year she would like a Littman’s Stethoscope. I have found some sites that I can order these from and they offer laser etched name engravings. I would love to get this for my wife, but I am not sure what I should put after her name for her credentials. At Christmas she will have 3 semesters to go before she graduates, so I would like for this gift to last longer than that.
I want to know what would be an appropriate engraving; for instance, should I put her "name, BSN" or "name RN, BSN” or would it be totally inappropriate for her to use this stethoscope during clinical’s since she is still a student. I know the engraving will be small and not very noticeable to her patients, but I also know how people in the field can be about credentials.

I would like to get this sorted out without asking her, because I would like for it to be a surprise. Any help would be great.

I hope she doesn't use this form.

Also, should periods go after the initials (R.N. , B.S.N.) or no periods?

It wouldn't be appropriate to put either of those titles on until she's earned them. Just her name will be fine.

You can give it to her and she can use it after she passes her boards, otherwise she cannot be flashing something out with her name and RN after her name since she's not an RN just yet.
very sweet of you to ask about a gift to your wife.

very sweet of you to listen to what your wife wants! You can get it with her name now, then always have credentials added later.....My husband had it done for me and I still guard that scope with my life!!!!

OK, so what should I put on there, even if she doesn't use it for a year and a half, BSN, RN, or both?

I would put both. She has worked hard for her degree and deserves her credentials.

Sounds good, I think this is what I will do. Should any Jewelry store be able to add the creds later?

I believe those engraved gift stores in the mall can do it whenever, just tell them when you get the name engraved to leave space to later have the RN BSN added.

Definitely put the R.N., B.S.N. once she graduates. She has worked hard for those initials and well deserves them. Nice idea as I've also had a many expensive stethoscopes grow legs taking long walks never to be seen again. This way she will have an easy way to identify it.

That is very sweet of you My parents gave me a beautiful Litman Stethoscope with my name engraved and RN following it when I graduated this past May. It was an awesome gift to receive. I don't think its that big of a deal to have RN after it since no one else can really see it. The problem is if she loses it then people are going to look for a nurse with that name. It may be better to get her this gift once she graduates. Also maybe there is a way that you can get it engraved after she receives her RN. Try to look into the store Things Remembered. I don't know if you are aware of that store or if they have one in your area but they do engaving services. Good luck
