I ordered the CD-29 from ebay a few weeks ago. Apparently the only difference from the CD-27 is the headset, it's supposed to be more comfortable. I got mine in purple & so far I really like it. I'm no expert using a stethoscope, but I can hear great with this one and you can't beat the price! I'm happy with the purchase so far. I'll let you know what my instructors think next week!

I'm just gonna order one then. I really haven't seen any criticism of GRX stuff, so I feel pretty confident giving it a shot for $35.

Thanks,

Dave

I just got my CD-29 today from ebay. It's a decent scope especially for the price. I am comparing it to my Littmann Master Classic II and I think I can hear better and louder with my Littmann. I've been using scopes for years being an EMT and now I'm starting nursing school.

But again, for the price you can't beat it. It'll be a good back up scope in case my Littmann grows legs.

I am thinking of getting a CD-29 from Ebay...any cons outweighing the pros would be very helpful. Thank you

I got mine yesterday (very fast shippers, even using the USPS). I haven't had a chance to use it, but it seems good. One thing that could be changed is that the headset seems small (and yes I have a big head), but it seems fine.

Kinda wonder if the Littman is better, but I don't really have the expertise to need a top of the line scope anyway.

And you can't beat the price...

Like Dave said, the only problem i've had so far with my CD-29 is the fact that the binaural assembly (the whole part that's above the head of the scope) doesn't open too wide making it uncomfortable when it's in my ears. I guess I have a big head too! I did switch the ear buds to the smaller size (they gave me two sets of large and one set of small) which seems to be more comfortable.
Other than that though, I think it's a good quality scope overall, especially for the money.

I wrote GRX today to see what the difference between the uc-7 was and the cd-29...this is what they said:

"Hi, the cd-29 is a dual head stethoscope adult and pediatric. We have put in three spring in the yolk to fit in your ears just a little more snug. excellent. The cd-1 is a single bell adult only stethoscope. Excellent also. The uc-7 is a light weight version of the cd-29."

I just don't know if I want to take the jump until I do some more research on what else is out there besides Littmanns (which I really can't afford). I just want to make sure I get the most for my money.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

belaya volna,
I've heard some good things about the brand Kila but have never seen one up close or listened with one. I know you can find them on ebay too.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know off hand how much the CD-29 weighs?

Thanks

7.8 oz according to their website
http://grxmedical.com/grxmedicalcd-2...ethoscope.aspx

The UC-7 comes in at only 5.5 oz

The CD-1 (comparable to the Littmann Master Cardio) comes in at 7.5 oz

They no longer have the CD-27 on their website. I guess they have phased it out to the 29.
