Don't laugh, but my son had a well visit today and so I took my cd-27 to the peds office with me. After she checked him all out and such I asked her if she would try out my new steth and give me her opinion.
She actually really really liked it. She actually seemed suprised at how well it worked. She listened to my heart and had me do some deep breathing and she said she could hear better with it than some of the ones the nurses she knows use and the quality and sound of it were very comparable to her Littmann.

Just wanted to let yas know!

I just got mine today. I don't know anything about stethoscopes, so I can't review it. But I like it. It's a little heavy and I don't know if hearts are supposed to sound like that . hehe

well, I promised I would return and post my thoughts when I picked my my steth...I got it this weekend and I can hear much better than the cheap sprague that I had bought earlier. I am a touch disappointed with the colour, I ordered red, but it looks kind of like that funny colour that isn't quite red and isn't quite pink. But that's just looks. It came with the pediatric diagphram attached and I had a really hard time attaching the rim that makes the smaller side into a bell. I even ended up breaking a couple of nails.

Other than that, I'm quite happy. i hear my brachial pulse very well.

I've been following this thread and decided to get the CD27 from ebay. Now I have 3 stethoscopes, my husband surprised me with a litmann classic II SE and a cheapo sprague. Among the 3, I like the litmann the best, it's light, more comfortable to the ears and I can hear from it better than the CD27. That being said, I think I'll use the grx for the skills lab practice and the litmann for the return demo. I do like that the grx gives a choice of eartips which improved my use.

nvm. i figured it out. A spoon works nicely . I just used a regular spoon that you use for tea and used it to get the part of the sleeve that I was having a hard time with on.

I really like the GRx scope. I ordered it a few weeks ago, and my classmates have tried it out, and 4 of them ordered one also. Several more said they would have gotten one if they hadn't already spent more on other scopes.

I have to throw in my two on this one.. I bought the cd27 off of ebay a few months ago for a friend going into nursing school. he brought it back to me with some problems. So I took it for a test run. First thing I noticed was the rotating stem in the bottom of the steth was a little loose... and this concerned me b/c steths work on air pressurem, if this stem is loose it may not be holding pressure well. So first thing was BP, I could here BP sounds OK with the diaphragm... but MUCH better with the bell. Then did a simple cardiac exam on my buddy, heart sounds were almost imperceptible with the diaphragm and forget about hearing any abnormalities like flutter or a murmur. The bell worked very well again. I am inclined to believe this scope is defective as the diaphragm just doesnt work very well and is not sensitive whatsoever. From reading other reviews it seems I am the minority in getting a defective scope.. That being said, GRX has been VERY helpful in resolving the issue and is sending out a new scope to replace this one, I am very happy with their customer service and they really do stand behind their products as they say!

Has anyone here used a bullzeyemedical.com Mark-9 or other stethoscope? What do you think about it? How does it compare to others used in the past? Also, what about the ultrascope brand?

I'm getting a new stethoscope soon but I'd like some information before purchase. I'll check out the GRZ mentioned

I've made up my mind to get one of these. I've still got a year of school left, but I hate my Prestige scope. It's terrible, and weighs about 20 lbs. it seems, lol.

The only GRX is see on ebay are the CD-1, the UC-7, and CD-29.

http://stores.ebay.com/GRx-Medical

It looks like the CD-29 must be the CD-27 with a new headset design, so unless anyone thinks otherwise, I'll be ordering that one ($34 and free shipping).

I know I may specialize later in my career, and perhaps want to get a different one, but I'm thinking that this is going to work very well for my limited expertise at this point, and the price is right.
