Well when shopping for nursing school, it sure puts a damper on what you can get. My preceptor had wide feet and bad knees, and she did wear Merrell's most of the time. Have you tried Birkenstocks? They do come in white with a style that's not a clog, it encloses the foot around the back. And they always look wide to me. Warning, like anything that's expensive, if you hate it, you really hate that you spent that kind of money on it. Of course, if you love it, it's worth every penny.

I'm not talking about the ones with the holes in them, either - they have the "specialist" design which just slip on and have no holes on the top and no side vents - they are completely enclosed except for the back, but even without the "strap" in the back these things stay on!
