Hi and gosh, you sure made me re-visit "memory lane", Smile. When I first entered nursing school, waaaay back in the day we all wore what was called back then, Nursing Clinics. The old fashioned white, lace "old lady-type" shoes. Boy, they were the most comfortable shoes I had ever worn in my 18 years on earth (back then, smile, when I first entered nursing school). If I remember correctly there was like only one store in NYC that carried them, right across from Macy's on 34th street......
Okay, sorry I am back now! Why not try these websites:
www.allheart.com and www.uniformdiscount.com
I saw on one of them what appeared to be the old type of shoes I have been looking for: Nurse Mates Louise Shoe. I never wore sneakers while on duty (I thought they look so unprofessional) but this is my opinion! I have worn white Earth Shoes (anyone remember them?), and clogs. Lots and lots of clogs. I used to alternate between the clogs and my old fashioned clinics.
Anywho, good luck in your search.

Most Foot Locker stores and sporting goods stores sell New Balance sneakers. A white pair of these is usually acceptable for clinical rotations as long as they're leather. Also, they're so very comfortable.

(I broke one of the rivets, so i know):hatparty:
Target has knockoffs of Crocs for only $10 & I find them just as comfortable as real Crocs.

I hope those are good. I bought a pair of those Payless Croc knockoffs today. They feel wonderful but I haven't worn them for long. We'll see. I wish they had a few more subtle colors (even though I bought yellow & green). Good luck.

I am a new nurse and started my first job 4 weeks ago. After working 2 12 hour shifts, I thought my feet were going to fall off. I soaked them and put them up on pillows. I was in so much pain.

I called a friend who has been a nurse for years and she recommended birkenstock. Went immediately to their store, AND THEY WERE OUT OF MY SIZE!! (they were around $100) So I went to a uniform store, and found Quarks. They were $29, looked like knockoffs of birkenstock.

I wore them and instantly, me feet stopped hurting. No More Pain. I went back and bought another pair, because with my luck, they will be discontinued! So I have a back up pair.

Also, I found that the inserts can be reordered when worn out. (it is a cork type insert) Also, the shoes can be immersed in water and cleaned with bleach. I am thrilled! If you cant find them anywhere, there is a website. Now when I wear normal shoes, I feel naked.

NURSE MATES style Dove, feel like marshmallows, light on your feet and very supportive. Also, as you walk they expand to your own toe span, so there is no rubbing or sore feet. I love them You can get them at any uniform store.
