To my great surprise(I have very sensitive feet) Danskos seem to work for me. The first few shifts were hard until I broke them in, now they feel great. Crocs didnt give me enough support and the sneakers I tried actually felt horrible. Shoes are such a trial and error thing, unfortunately..Some people said the danskos made them twist their ankles but I actually tripped more in the Crocs!

I'm with you on Merrell shoes. I've got the Topo Moc model and they are wonderful. I pretty much only wear Merrell these days whether in clinicals or just knocking around (not the same pair, of course).

Ken

Wow, well my all time favorite, most comfortable nursing shoes in this galaxy are called: Clinics. Used to be sold opposite MACY*S on 34th Street in NYC. Waaaay back in the day. Having a hard time finding anything that resembles them. They were all white, with shoelaces, made of leather, kind of resembled old fashioned nursing shoes. I still have a pair, but they are there to remind me of when I first entered nursing.
The site I bought my shoes from carries Clinics. I nearly bought a pair, but was turned off by the price tag.

That said, I like my NurseMates fine and dandy.

I have a serious Merrell addiction!

I do find that alternating shoes is key for my feet. Wearing the same pair of shoes everyday all day makes my feet really, really tired. Having two different, but great, pairs of shoes is an awesome strategy IMO.

only problem with crocs is the holes in the top of the shoe. you can get blood, crap needles ect dropped on yourfeet and ur not protected. our hosp. is not going to allow them anymore. i like nike shoks.

crocs have the holes in the top of them so you have to be careful of body fluid spills or needles. my hospital actually is not going to allow them anymore

I worried about the holes too so I just got a black pair with no holes. Granted my feet sweat but they sweat in New Balance, Avias, KSwiss...basically anything other than flip flops! I alternate between Crocs for work and New Balance for school.
