What brand and model stethoscope do you have?

Bonus question: How do you wear it? ;)

Guess I'm first. ;)

Well, I'll be honest. I don't have a stethoscope - I have three. Yep, I know, it's bad (And I'm not even a nurse yet.) :uhoh21:

Littmann Classic SE II

MDF 777 (my favorite)

I've worn my stethoscope all the ways shown in the link in the OP, except for the bottom two; I always have a stethoscope when I'm on the floor, and I would never use the last option. (Though a local doctor I know does have a tendency to wear his like that...hmmm. :lol2: ) Looping my stethoscope (like "The Lasso") is a lifesaver. I stopped stuffing my stethoscope in my pocket to protect it from falling (I did a lot of bending during NA clinicals) once I learned that trick. Works like a charm!

Littmann Classic SE II I think is what it's called.

I have 4 @ the moment. The one I use primarily is an Infant Littman. If I have to wear it, it's around the back of my neck. I hate wearing it. I only wear it when I actually have to use it. Otherwise it's @ the desk.

Wow! Only three people on allnurses own stethoscopes... :monkeydance:

Yeah, but one of us has 4!! ;)

I know there have been threads about stethoscopes--might want to check 'em out!

I'll bite. I have a Littman Classic II SE, mostly because that's what the school ordered for us (though I did get to pick my own color).

I used to wear it the "Newbie" way (though my lab coat is always freshly laundered!), mostly because one of our instructors told us about someone who tried to strangle her with her stethoscope and I did not want to be a victim of strangulation. Once I decided that the lab coat itself was pretty darned annoying I had to start wearing it the "Classic II" way, though occasionally I will do a version of the "Lasso", mostly just when I'm fidgeting with it, though.

Littman classic II.... and a cheapo one for when I'm scared my Littman will walk. I have worn it in my pocket and around my neck, so.... lol I guess I'm a newbie.

I had a Littman for about 4 years out of nursing school. It sprouted legs and I have not seen it since. I currently have a $20 Sprague style with a pedi and adult bell. It works for my current job just fine. However, when I'm in the nursery, the hospital has neonatal/preemie ones just for use in there.

I have never EVER left it folded in my pocket that I can remember. Too annoying. Plus it doesn't fit what with all the other crap in my pockets. If I have a newborn steth, I sometimes wear it in the Classic II style. It's not too heavy and doesn't get in my way. With my big steth, I modify the consultant look & stick the bell in my pocket. Less annoying that way. Most of the time, though, it's on the desk or @ the nurses station if I'm not using it. It gets in the way too much.

I'm using a Peds Littman today b/c I'm on Mother-Baby, and it's easier to hear those big ole' NBs w/.

I'm wearing it over one shoulder when it's not @ the desk. I have the "curse" on it: "STEAL THIS AND YOUR LOINS WILL GO NUMB!!", so hopefully it won't walk off.

That Sprague would be a nightmare for me--waaaay too heavy!!
