    I'm probably suffering from too much time on my hands before school starts....

    1) What is 'standard' to put on stethoscope ID tag? I was thinking first initial, last name?

    2) If you normally wear an underwire bra, do you also wear one at work or do you opt for something more comfortable like a sports bra?

    3) Glasses vs. contacts in a clinical setting. Thoughts?

    For my stethoscope ID I've just got my first name (Jillian) since there aren't an abundance of others with that name around here.

    I always wear a sports bra for comfort and because most of my other bras usually have a strap that falls down constantly.

    I don't wear glasses but would prefer them over contacts in a clinical setting because they do protect the eyes somewhat from direct spatter from blood/spit etc better than contacts.

    i have my first initial and last name. while my name isn't as common as say jennifer or mary, it isn't an uncommon one. i am usually the only one with my name but on occasion i have worked with other "pixie"s.

    2) if you normally wear an underwire bra, do you also wear one at work or do you opt for something more comfortable like a sports bra?
    maybe i'm an odd one but i don't find sports bras comfortable at all, i never wear them. the 'girls' are just too close for comfort. haha

    i'm fortunate enough even at my age to not require glasses (even for reading). however, if i did require them, i'd opt for contacts. nothing would drive me more crazy than being gloved up and having glasses slipping down my nose.

    i've never met anyone with my name, so i'd be pretty safe with that, i just wasn't sure what was common practice. i thought the same thing about glasses, but i'm also worried about them slipping.

    i have a few sports bras that just make me hot! i'm trying to decide which would be less uncomfortable. maybe it's time to find some new bras.
    i'm worried about that exactly with glasses. i don't currently wear contacts, but i have in the past. i may go get a prescription so i can wear them if my glasses bother me.

    3) I prefer glasses; I like the idea of having a layer of hard plastic between my eyes and "the world" at work. Sure, they're not as protective as genuine safety glasses, but they're a lot more protection than just being "bare-faced."

    this topic strikes me funny for the mere reason that we were just chatting the other day during lunch pretty much the topic on hand. having said that, one of my colleagues kept readjusting her bra strap, when we began addressed the subject. therefore, on

    1. most of us have first initial & last name.

    2. on the bra issue is 50/50 for the sport/bra and the wire bra. and 1 nurse that likes to leave her "girls" move freely or shall we say "go commando"

    3. on the vision we are tied again 50/50 for the contacts & the glasses.


    and that's our 2 worth on the subject

    I have glasses and I often wonder if I should wear my contacts instead. I don't find my contacts comfortable so I think it would bother me, but at the same time I hate when my glasses slip when I'm gloved up, and I hate having to take my glasses off to put goggles on (I don't like the big ones that fit over glasses, and as I'm still a student we are required to wear goggles in situations where most nurses don't). So I too am on the fense as to which might be best.

    i have a cute pedipal tag with my last name on it.

    i wear the same bras for work that i do when not at home.

    3) glasses vs. contacts in a clinical setting. thoughts?
    i don't wear either but a lot of nurses wear contacts and always complain about dryness, etc.
    not sure how to work that as a quote and make it work right.

    I'm in between with the glasses and contacts. I'm dedicated to contacts full-time but I do think I need to give them a break time to time and wear my glasses. So like others say 50/50

    I cannot tolerate contacts for 12 hours straight, so I would go with glasses if working in the hospital. I also agree with others that they give a bit of protection against the nasties as well. I'm a school nurse, so I do not work 12's and it is (usually) "cleaner" than the hospital, so I will occasionally wear my contacts.

    I wear a non-underwire bra that is also not a sports bra. I'm, er, top heavy, and most sports bras do not give me much support. This way I get comfort and support all in one.

    I have my full name and credentials engraved into my steth tubing. Was a graduation gift from my Mom.
