Does it get better? I've tried the lightweight, the classic SE II and the cardiac. ALL of them feel uncomfortable in my ears and feels like it's going to punch right through my ear drums. Anyone else have this problem?

yes it does

My classic SE II is SOOO comfortable in my ears. The Sprague that came in my school nursing kit hurt like heck. Do you have the soft comfort tips on your littmann?

I played music and used in ear monitors for many years. I learned that comfort is everything. I had the exact same problem as you when I first started nursing school. I couldn't believe how uncomfortable my stethoscope was.

Solution: Get comfort earbuds. The ones that come on the steth you bought (grey in color) are a little rough on virgin ears. Luckily, if you saved your packaging, they should have come packaged with some black comfort earbuds. If they didn't...google away. Theres always someone willing to sell you something that will fix your problem...for a price! :)

On the plus side, it does get better. You're about to get to experience a lot of uncomfortable things...your steth's comfort will be the least of your concerns!

Best of luck to you! Study hard and always ask questions if you don't understand something! Just don't be that person in class that monopolizes the instructors time at the expense of the other students. ;)
