Maybe you could consider having the boxy, less expensive scrubs altered if you can find a good local tailor. I have a very different body type than yours, but I have found that a well tailored outfit makes a world of difference, whether you are talking about suits or scrubs. And you might be surprised how inexpensive it is compared to the pricey designer scrubs. Especially if you have to order online and don't even get to try on certain styles before you buy. Good luck!

As a "fat old lady" who also happens to be very curvy, I can understand where the OP is coming from. I don't wear my scrubs "tight" (might scare the natives) but I want them to fit. Nothing makes a big girl look bigger than huge "tater sack like scrubs" My best advice is to NEVER buy unisex, you won't be happy. The tops that have a faux criss cross in the front (v-neck), tie back, or have elastic in the back (about mid back) work best for me, because they are made to fit a woman. Since I am in a small town I usually buy my scrubs at Walmart. The pants with elastic in the back, drawstring waist work best for me, cause they don't make the belly stick out like all elastic, or bunch in the back and cut too tight on the thighs like the straight drawstring. Now everyone play nice, wear what makes you feel comfortable!

I'm kinda small but with big boobs and I have the same problem where I look like a circus tent in most tops. Tops that tie in the back just seem to fit even more awkwardly than those with straight cuts. They make me look like a rectangle?

If I were you I would look at Barco scrubs. Their Grey's Anatomy line mock-wrap tops tend to skim the body. Some of their other tops are cut the same way. And their Elan lines come in really pretty prints in a material that's thinner and more breathable, so they drape a little bit better instead of sticking out 6" away from your stomach.

Well, lets get back to the original topic - thank you to so many posters who have posted some wonderful and ingenious ideas.

My dear ole Mom always said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything" and I think its appropriate here. We are talking about getting scrubs that fit different body types, not what's wrong with the body type!

I don't know if it would be worth it, but have you thought about maybe having them altered?
