You should go for lavender and rock the heck out of that colour. Seriously though, I've seen some nice dark purples (like the purple equivalent to navy blue) and some grape/wine toned ones that look just fine on men.

Me? I'm thinking of going into therapy over the royal blue decision in my hospital- having been scarred in my 20's and 30's by a series of forgettable bridesmaid dresses.

I've worn some bridesmaids dresses that were real beauts! There was one that made me feel like a human marshmallow! Our YWCA collects old prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses ranging from gorgeous to absolutely Gawd awful in January, and by prom time YW volunteers have remade them over into dresses the kids love. Anyone who can't afford to buy a dress may pick one at no cost whatever. Nothing to prove, no questions asked. Could you help start a similar program in your community?

Oh... royal blue is more properly known as "gymsuit blue." When I came home with my brand new gymsuit in that obnoxious shade, expecting a TON of sympathy from my mom, she looked up from what she was doing and remarked, "You're lucky. At least your boomers have shorts over them!"

Of all the colors they could have picked...purple?!?
It's one of the foibles of being the only male nurse in Women's Services. :(

One of the RT's used to wear black; definitely fit his personality!

Kinda miss wearing/buying scrubs. Oh, wait, what am I saying?????

What about a nice, rich royal purple color?

We finally found a very dark purple material at a fabric store, and hired a lady to make them. Expensive, of course, but it gets me all my pockets, my zipper front shirt, buttons and belt loops on the pants. Meh.
