Littmann Master Cardiology??

I've had mine for ten years and wouldn't part with it for anything. I didn't find it to be a problem with peds. pts.

Hi All,
I realize there are several threads on stethoscopes...I didn't find much on the Master Cardiology. I just got one of these as a gift and am trying to decide if I should keep or sell (still brand new and in the box) for a different model.
1. Does anyone have any experience with the Littmann Master Cardiology?
2. Does it present any difficulties for pediatrics since it is doesn't have a smaller chestpiece?
...thinking of going with the Cardiology III, but wanted some input before I make a decision.

Wow, someone LOVES you!! That is a fabulous and somewhat pricey model; it is superior to the Cardiology III. There are adaptors for peds to fit the MC.

I tried many steths during school, bought two, and then requested THIS when I graduated. I'm a proud owner of a new MC myself :)

Ditto!!! Those are the BEST steths on the market. Extremely clear to listen with. KEEP IT!!!!

I have been wondering the same since I need a new steth (I'm a FNP student). My concern is that using the adapter on again/off again might be cumbersome and inconvenient (plus I'm afraid of misplacing it), but I do want the best possible acoustics.

I haven't seen much info on this practical aspect of the MC. For that reason I too am leaning towards the Cardio III unless someone convinces me otherwise

Gotta love moms! (She was the giver of this present)

I went and tested the MC at a local supply store (didn't want to open mine in case I sell it) and I was really impressed. The attachment is kind of a pain, but I don't think it would be too cumbersome. The sounds were very crisp and I really liked it. I think I might just hold on to it. If anyone has other opinions on it, please post.

You also might want to consider just how much time you'd be using it on a pediatric patient. In my school, we're in an area where peds pretty much go OUT of the area, so it was limited. During OB, we used dedicted equipment on the floor (never our own stuff); the one time I had a peds patient during clinicals it was an isolation baby and that child had dedicated equipment too!

Even if you have a 'normal' peds rotation, it's a very small time compared with the rest of your schooling...way smaller. And if you are going to WORK in peds, well...the attachment stays on then! :)

For people with hearing impairments, the Littman Master Cardiology is probably the best steth on the market. I love mine,which was also a gift from a thoughtful mother. You should really keep yours.

Oh wow. You are really in posession of a great steth. I've had mine maybe 20 years and it still looks, works and sounds fantastic.

I paid two hundred and change, but I wouldnt part with a Master Cardiology for nothing. One time i left my scope at home and had an el cheapo from the disposable packs......what a let down.

Just splurged and bought myself a Littmann Master Cardio scope after I graduated. Love it!
