Littmann

  1. I own a prestige stethoscope (double tube) and find it to be heavy and doesn't pick up/amplify sound as well. So I'm looking to upgrade-
Looking to buy Littmann stethoscope. Which one is better-master cardiology III or the electronic 3100/3200?

Definitely the electronic ones. However, the cost is high. Depending on what type of nursing you do, a littman cardiology may be fine. I have the electronic 3200 because I listen to pts on dialysis and many have permcaths which masks many lung and heart sounds.

I'm starting in LTC. I have to admit the 3200 is great (amplifies sound, better quality and visual) but $$. I read that it tends to power off if you're doing a lengthy assessment? Do you find that happening? Any glitches? How long is battery life?

You certainly don't need such a fancy stethoscope for LTC... But to each their own...
