i recently graduated from nursing school and have taken and passed my nclex. my mom bought me my first pair of dansko clogs for graduation, and i love them. i haven't had much trouble learning to walk in them, and they happen to fit perfect on my arch. i had a pair of nursemates through school and i absolutely hated them. i always came home with a blister!! i would definitely reccomend going to the store to try them on before buying them, because, as stated before, each shoe fits a little different. i need to come up with some more money so i can buy a pair in another color!!! :nurse:

:yeah::yeah: :nurse: mrsshifflette09 :yeah::yeah: Congrats to you new RN!!!

After my first semester with my Dansko's I have to say that I really like them too. I have the Professional version. They are pricey, but I figure if they last most RN's about 3 years, I can wear them for my 4 semesters of clinicals and then have a year or two still in them.

I have the Sanita brand-I bought them for nursing school on recommendation from a store owner. I had a pair of brown professional Danskos I loved but I rolled my ankle once or twice at work. The Sanitas have a lower, wider base but rub against the top of my foot. I had padding placed on the inside to help with this and also prevent my heel from slipping out.

A year ago I purchased another pair of professional Danskos to replace my older pair that literally wore out-holes in the leather, but still so comfy!! (They were a hand me down.) I thought I just needed to break them in, but after reading these posts I do notice there is a slight difference from those original Danskos. Even the Sanitas aren't as comfortable.

But I still wear my Danskos everyday because they are by far the most comfortable shoes out there and they hold up through everything-bad weather, dirty floors, etc.

i love my danskos! i got them before starting my first nursing job, and wore them around the house to get used to and then to all of my corporate orientation to get used to before i wore them for a whole 12 hr shift. i would'nt wear anything else to work! i also got the black patent leather style because you can wipe them down. the other day i stepped in patient vomit (who was also in contact precautions) and after wiping them off with a dry towel, i used a chlorhexidine wipe (what we use to wipe down equipment with, it kills c. diff) and they still look brand new! i don't have one bad thing to say about them!

Just FYI. I found two professional styles (Corinne and Caitlin) Danskos at 6pm.com for $34.95. They have several other styles for the same price, but those are more casual styles.

I love Danskos...I've always worn sneakers like Nike Shox but recently made the switch over to "real" nursing shoes. Echoing what the other posters said, upon first trying them on they might feel uncomfortable especially if you are used to wearing cushiony sneakers. But the hardness and stiffness of the shoes supports wonderfully and does wonders for your feet, legs, and lower back. Also keep in mind that they will also fit differently- when you walk, the back of the shoe will not hug snugly around your foot like sneakers do. Appararently your feet are supposed to lift up out of the shoe ever so slightly with every step. At least this is what the owner of a local nursing supplies store told me. But I have been wearing mine for a few months now and can really feel the difference, so they are definitely worth investing in.

I just purchased my new Dansko clogs and am looking forward to not having pain in my feet. They are very cute to.

I'm all about the Skecher Shape ups now! These shoes have saved my back and my feet. Money well spent.
