Best Men's Nursing Shoes???

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

Hey Gents,

I will be leaving for University's ACE program in a few quickly approaching weeks. They said we need to have all white, leather sneakers or shoes. They can't have any other colors in them. This leaves out crocs, etc.

Does anyone have any good suggestions? I haven't had any experiences with the men's clogs or anything. I might just end up getting a pair of all white nike shox.

Thanks for the help!

Get a cheap pair, you won't be wearing them much anyway, not in nursing school, clinicals are never over 7hrs. When you graduate, grab that pair of crocs and don't look back.

Speaking of crocs, anyone tried the Bistros? They don't have holes, but are "slip resistant" and am wondering if they are worth the extra $10, otherwise, it's the holes for me!

I have two pairs of New Balance "walking shoes." They're both white (the first pair intentionally so for clinicals, the second just because it was the only color I found at the NB outlet store here in Boston). The presence of the outlet store makes them pretty inexpensive and I have found them to be comfy... and I go about 230 lbs.

i don't know about that particular brand, but i had a similar pair of shoes, without the holes. about halfway through my shift i would have a puddle in the toe area. holes for me all the way!!!!!

No kidding. Most of the guys in my ER said the same exact thing. They all DRILLED holes in the side of their crock professional clogs. The one thing about my current crocs is the grip on hospital floors. I don't know if its the wax or the croc, but any little splatter of water/ice/pee and bam, my crocs become an ice skate. So...

Yesterday I was at the sports store and noticed a new pair of crocs, "boats" which have a newer, heavy-duty, slip resistant tread on them (and have holes). So, plopped down the cash and I'll try them. They are heavier, but also have a more durable/protective feel about the shoe. I'll let you guys know how we do this week.

the best shoes i have ever purchased for work are "z-coils". they are like the nike shox, but much more comfortable. you can check out the different styles at www.zcoil.com. kind of expensive (i bought the "high desert hiker" from a local uniform store for $265), but well worth it. i bought the one's i have 3 years ago, and i still wear them. i would recommend any nurse who is on their feet constantly to try them out. good luck!

Has anyone tried the Michael Rocks made by Cherokee or the Merrel Mocs? Thanks.

I haven't been dissatisfied with Asics as of yet! On my 3rd pr in 2 yrs and I love them! Wore NB all white walking shoes in school, though, Starter all white walking shoes, and a Wal-Mart no name deal (also, all white). They are out there, but you just have to look.

For those doin the whole Croc thing...I have never been 100% satisfied with them. Always walking out of them, and the largest size I found in a store was still too small for my feet (wear 11.5's). Like them for home use and lounging, but I haven't tried another pair since. maybe I should, based on everyone else's thoughts!

I have a big foot and the XXL crocs fit me well. They say they're for 12-13 shoe sizes.

This post was started a year ago by me. I went with a pair of all white Nike shox which have served me well. I'm beginning to search for jobs because I'm graduating in two weeks. I hope employers aren't as picky about shoe colors as the school was. . .

I checked out the website for those zcoils talked about in an above post. They're ugly as sin! I don't think I could bring myself to wear them!

There is new technology now a days and these shoes have been getting a lot of attention. Check it out or try them on at a shoe store. I suggest it and I picked up a pair this week. And you guys can customize the color scheme so the right colors can be allowed on your unit.

New Balance does make solid white shoes. I have a pair. You have to search for them and even go on the website. I have six pair of NB I wear to work.

I have a pair of NB 576 that are in all white. I also have a couple pairs of Birkenstocks including the Boston and G500 (Alpro). Once the Birks are broken in, they are great. I do have a pair of Crocs in all white (the Specialist Vent) but I only wear those to the OR. Finally, I also like the Dusty model by Klogs-USA (in all white. Pretty comfy, but it takes getting used to walking in an open-back shoe. I gave up trying to be fashion-conscious. I just want my feet to not hurt at the end of a clinical!
