You should specifically list what clinical experiences you had as another poster stated...for example, I had practical and observational experiences in OR PACU and ER in both my Peds and Med Surg rotations; as well as management of wound vacs, colostomies, etc, I also did a presentation in my Peds and Med Surg Practicums. Those aspects, depending on the subjects and experiences would stand out if I wanted to pursue ER, OR, CC; if I wanted to be a treatment nurse, a perspective employer would see I am comfortable with wounds, colostomies, etc...

Don't list the tasks; instead, what population did you have? In Women's Health, did you have post OP care for a mastectomy, or a prolapsed uterus??? Cancer patients??? What cases did you see in the OR??? Dialysis: HD or Peritoneal??? OB:did you have anyone with at-risk s/s??? What was your ratio of mom/baby?

Radiology: was it interventional radiology???

GI lab: were you exposed to endoscopy, colonoscopy cases? Routine or emergency cases?

List a short statement of the clinical exposure you had; most tasks are the rule; the exception is if you had constant familiarity with GYN cases, familiarity with pre-OP/procedure or post-OP care/procedure; familiarity with Dialysis preparation or if you had a patient with PD and learned and was involved with the care.

I hope this is much more clear for you.

Should I even put the clinical experience on there? I mean some of it was in clinics and some of it was on the floors at the hospital, so I have a variety of places I went to. At the clinics I really just did vitals and otherwise observed. They expect we did clinical and they know what we did. So should I just take it off? Or should I just list the different sites? I mean my experiences were pretty uniform to all the other people in my class.

I would narrow down specific experiences at clinicals...sometimes it is not where but WHAT..if you are going for a clinic position, then list that you had clinical time at a clinic, performed pt teaching, etc. I spent a whole semester at a pediatric clinic assisting with the asthma clinic for public health, as well as their urgent clinic. I taught, did follow up calls, maintained education board and literature. If I was going for a urgent care pediatric position or a pediatric office, I would list that exposure because its relevant. It should take about 2 lines to describe what clinical practice and what population you had in your experience. For example:

Clinical practicum consisted of post-OP lobectomy clients; chronic trach/vent patients; post OP decannulation teaching....or something like that.

If you did Rehab:

Clinical practicum consisted of post hip and knee arthroplasty, fasciotomy care; colostomy care and teaching...things specific to being familiar with care of rehab patients. Some specifics that will catch a recruiter's eye...

Hope this is much more clear as my previous example and post.
