Resume question... How should I write this?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

So I took the NCLEX a few days ago for the first time and thankfully passed! I checked Quick Results and received my NCSBN Candidate Report in the mail stating that I successfully passed. However, the report state that my license might take a few weeks to arrive. It also says that I can legally work with this report until my license arrives.

Well, I have a panel interview next week (*wish me luck* :)). This was what I was planning on including in my resume:

  • Missouri RN Licensure: (number here): expires (date)

However, since I probably won't get my license # or expiration date before the interview, how should I rewrite the above? I want them to know that I passed the NCLEX and can legally work in MO.

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations! How about:

Registered Nurse, State of Missouri

Are you sure the license number wasn't also available when you checked with the quick view thing? Mine was immediately assigned. Check your nurse registry website and see if you aren't on there to get the number.

I'm surprised because everyone seems to get their license # right away. I checked on my state's BON website and my name is still not listed. The candidate report that I got in the mail stated that I passed and I should expect to wait a few weeks for my license. Really annoying!

If I don't get my license # before the interview, I'm just going to write:

Registered Nurse, State of Missouri: effective (date)

& I'm going to make copies of my report to take with me. Hopefully all goes well. Wish me luck everyone! :)

I've been a nurse for 30 years and never put my license number on my resume.

Really?

I was just following the resume guide & samples on John Hopkin's website.

I saw that I passed the NCLEX 3 days after I took the test by going on the state licensing website (Dept of health) and looking up my license by my name. It stated my license number and dates it was effective and expires.

This is where I have been checking:

https://renew.pr.mo.gov/licensee-search.asp

How about just 'pending license number' and maybe include the letter that states you are legally able to practice as an RN.

I didn't out my license # on my résumé. I put Licensed NYS Registered nurse, Oct 2012 (license # upon request)

They can always look up on the BON with your name to see if you're really licensed so no need to put your license # unless you really want to
