A giant thank you to.... I dont know who!

I was reading on here one day about 2 years ago, when someone posted about their experience portfolio. I made one similar to what they described and wanted to share it, but also say thank you to the person who suggested it (and forgive me for not remembering who it was!).

I have a large binder with several tab dividers. At the very beginning, in front of all of the tabs is some paper that tracks where I've applied, and the end result of that.

Behind the first tab is licensure stuff. But it's not as simple as that. I got smaller tab dividers pre-labeled 1-24. Tabs 1-12 indicates months, 13-24 indicate years. Stuff expiring this year has it's year tab at the very front, filed under the appropriate month. So, for example, my CPR is up May, 2014. So I have the 14 tab at the beginning of the whole stack of tabs. Behind the 14 tab is all of 1-12. A copy of my CPR card is filed behind 5. Behind tab 12, I have 13-24 (minus 14 since that's this year). After 13, I could have things that expired last year. Behind 15-24 is stuff that expires in future years. This way I can keep track of everything in chronological order and never get lost digging through it all.

I have a tab for screening - back ground checks, physicals, immunizations and status, whatever else might come up here.

Another tab is for education documents - degrees and transcripts.

One tab is for awards.

One tab is for experience - work, clinical/educational, and volunteer (each category on their own separate pages).

I have some other stuff I'd like to add, but haven't gotten to it yet. Like, resumes and cover letters. I don't believe in doing a generic cover letter and resume. I tweak for whoever I send it out to. Maybe a tab for correspondence. But, anyway.....

I wanted to share the awesomeness! This thing will be even more fantastic when I'm stacking up other licensing things with expiration dates, or get ready for grad school. I hope this can be helpful for someone else!

And thank you, mystery person!
