Puerto Rico school feedback - thread #2

Wow after 9 years and 1336 posts they closed our thread because it was too long.

The original thread and all the helpful posts can be found here:

https://allnurses.com/international-nursing/puerto-rico-school-28678.html

There are 134 pages in that thread but the last 130 pages were from 2010 and beyond and there is a ton of helpful info in there. Hopefully the current students will continue this thread as I graduate this month. Please try to read that thread at least a little bit before posting your questions here as it is very likely your question has been asked and answered on the other thread more than once.

Good luck on whatever path you choose!

Moving to Puerto Rico tomorrow! Super excited, nervous and scared! I hope school registration and apartment hunting goes smoothly! :)

Welcome Veronica!

Hey all! I am landing in PR on Sunday. I am interested in talking with. You can private messge me.

Take care!

That message got edited in a weird way. Anyone starting at La Inter, I'm interested to talk to you! Time to get things done in the financial aid office, figure out housing, etc., etc.! Much to do...

We did that last week it was crazy! Lol a lot of running around and a looooong wait at financial aid. We still have to go back and bring a couple thing in order to set up payment for our financial aid. Did you already fill out fasfa? If so, then you walk up and they check it then give you a number to talk to someone and just let you know everything hen and there. After that then you go to another office to set up payment. Registration was a bit easier. But she only put me in 11 units. I want to try and add one more class. We still need to get books! We found a place really fast in the first couple of days! We (me and my friend/roomie) found it on classificados online. We live in condado the area can be pricey but we got a great deal and feel safe in our area. If you have any questions I can try and help. :) we are still getting settled our selves. We still need a car! Lol

Hey everyone I'm new to this site seems awesome so far! I live in new jersey 2 more semesters until i can take the nclex for lpn. Im looking into puerto rico nursing schools and thinking of moving there sometime in the near future. What I've noticed so far is the lack of pay and not a great outlook for a nursing career which is giving me doubts, am i wrong? I was also wondering if they offer an lpn/rn transition program?

You don't move to Puerto Rico for a job. The pay is awful. I had a friend working as an LPN making less then 8 USD an hour. I know some RNs that make 11 or 12 USD an hour. Yeah it is really awful.

At the moment La Inter does not have LPN to RN program. However I don't know about the other schools but I haven't heard of any that have a bridge program in PR.

Is there anyone who's starting in November?!

Can anyone tell me more about Puerto Rico like, was there a waiting list, what were the requirements

I have a LVN license in California, how would that help me with the Associates dregree program? I also have all of my prerequistes and general education! Would I qualify for the sccelerated program?

I will be attending Inter Metro in 2013, can anyone give me any helpful information or a heads up on any experiences that they may have had. Will anyone else be attending in 2013? I am going to read all the post in a few so my question may already be answered.

I am a nursing student in Indiana and once I am finished with my bachelors degree I am considering moving to Puerto Rico and was wondering if anyone new what the requirements are to move down there and transfer my degree to your area. Does anyone have any information for me?
