Puerto Rico school feedback - thread #2

Wow after 9 years and 1336 posts they closed our thread because it was too long.

The original thread and all the helpful posts can be found here:

https://allnurses.com/international-nursing/puerto-rico-school-28678.html

There are 134 pages in that thread but the last 130 pages were from 2010 and beyond and there is a ton of helpful info in there. Hopefully the current students will continue this thread as I graduate this month. Please try to read that thread at least a little bit before posting your questions here as it is very likely your question has been asked and answered on the other thread more than once.

Good luck on whatever path you choose!

Is the public transportation system in Bayamon good enough to get me to the beach? Thanks y'all for any information. I'm very excited to get into nursing in Puerto Rico!!

We have the metro train behind the school but it doesnt reach the beach. I'm sure you can take the bus but you'll have to figure the bus system I've never taken it.

Hi,

For those of you who have just started at LaInter , how are you finding the first couple months? What is it good/bad, anything else that you feel about the school, or PR in general? I got accepted but couldn't attend this year, but am still considering it for next year and would value any feedback from the new students..

Hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks

I'm not a new student :) It's my final2nd year. But if no new student answers - feel free to ask my thoughts. :)

Hello, I am doing my first trimester at la Inter and so far everything is alright. I guess the problem most of us have is to get used to the new environment of the school system here in Puerto Rico; the nursing classes aren't bad, but it's fast pace so one has to keep reading all the material. At times everything look disorganized specially the financial aid department!!!

Give a more specific question, and I will be happy to answer it.

Oh by the way you are even able to start on November trimester if you really want to since they are taking off the first class of the nursing program and combining it with fundamentals! I guess since you are accepted already all you got to do is come down here between the month of October to register for November.

Thank you quik248!

Starting in November would be something to consider, although I'm not sure if I can get everything together so quickly to get there in time. I will email "*", but I have not been hearing back from him for some time now. Is he still there?

Thanks for the info, if I think of any more specific questions I will ask.. and I hope you're enjoying your first trimester.

Yes, ******* is still here, he is always busy though.

Hi, I'm interested in going to InterMetro next year. I do not have a college degree. Does the associate degree have an accelerated program or is it only for BSN? If I take the 2 English, 2 Spanish, math, religion, history of PR and computer before August- can I start an accelerated associate program and finish in 11 months? Thanks in advance for the answers. I've learned so much reading the posts here.

Hello AntoNina, if you already have your GE classes you can finish your BSN in 2 years. There is no such of thing as an accelerated ASN degree. With the new director of nursing it's hard to get an approval. they changed the curriculum of classes this past trimester and for your ASN you will still need to complete 5 trimesters or 9 trimesters for the BSN or 6 trimester for the accelerated BSN program. Either program you enroll in la inter they are still faster compare to any other program here in Puerto Rico.

Thank You! Both programs are short, so they sound great.

I plan on attending La Inter in August or November. I'll only be on the island for two years, so I was also hoping there was an accelerated associates...but 5 trimesters sound great! Do a lot of students take The Nclex? I've read here that it's easier to sit for the Wisconsin one, but what others states do they sit for? And how easy or hard is it to sit for other states? And if you sit for Wisconsin, how easy or hard is it to get your license endorsed in other states?
