Puerto Rico school feedback - thread #2

Wow after 9 years and 1336 posts they closed our thread because it was too long.

The original thread and all the helpful posts can be found here:

https://allnurses.com/international-nursing/puerto-rico-school-28678.html

There are 134 pages in that thread but the last 130 pages were from 2010 and beyond and there is a ton of helpful info in there. Hopefully the current students will continue this thread as I graduate this month. Please try to read that thread at least a little bit before posting your questions here as it is very likely your question has been asked and answered on the other thread more than once.

Good luck on whatever path you choose!

water is about $20 a person and electricity can range from $50-$100 a person depending on whether you use a/c or not and also how many people you are splitting the bill with. This is what I've been told from asking around when I went looking at places. I haven't had to pay a utility bill yet.

i Have applied back in February and i did not hear fro the uni yet.I called them last week to check on the status of my application, they told me that they have my application, and they are still in the process of reviewing it and they told me that i still have a lot of time.Does that mean i am not accepted??? since they are already holding a welcome event for new nursing students.

Hello Ohio _2013.. I also applied back in February and they never sent me anything stating the status of my application. I waited until April and still nothing on the mail; therefore I decided to go in person and flew from California to Puerto Rico in May. When I got there and questioned about my application whey review my file and handed my acceptance letter dated April 25th. I asked them why was it never mailed to me? And they replied to me that for some reason it was not mailed. The acceptance letter had the date for orientation In May 2, 2013. I was at school on May 7!!!! So, they told me to go to the nursing office for registration and for a new orientation date. I did so and I am going to orientation day on July 24th.

Bottom line you have to keep calling them and tell them that you applied back in February !! I think it's better to go in person. If I wouldn't have gone in May I will probably be waiting for my acceptance letter

Hey everyone,

I think its awesome how helpful everyone is. Im not going to be repetitive with questions since most of the info is on this thread. I wanted to know from someone enrolled in the courses, how hard the program is academically ?? Like many of you, im from California with the same fears. I dont have the best memory and found my pre-reqs very challenging when I did them i.e. anatomy, micro, physiology etc... Just want to know what im getting into before I apply. Does the school help you pass? meaning, are there tutors etc if your havng problems. It would be awful to move to PR and not pass your classes!!! Please let me know...

Also, it seems that once you graduate you are able to take NCLEX in any state correct? So there should not e a problem getting licensed to work in CA after your finished right?

Oh!! Whats the website for the school where I can find the application to apply? Thanks everyone

The website is http://www.metro.inter.edu ... I am from California as well and I am starting the program in August and yes you can take your Nclex anywhere and the nursing classes as far as I heard form other students I met when I went to university this past May the classes are like any other universities in the US.

Thank you so much for your response! I hope everything goes great for you.

Thank you quik248 for the information. After calling the university numerous of times and speaking to a bunch of people ,they mailed my acceptance letter and i got it today. So i am gonna be there next week.My advice to those who have applied a while ago and haven't heard from the university yet , to call the university like thousands of times or just go in person that will be better.

Good Luck everybody

Good for you!!! Are you flying to Puerto Rico next week ? Awesome!! So are you going to register classes and for orientation and stay there until semester starts in Puerto Rico ? If so, are you attending the orientation date of June 17?

Hi All!

I am new to this and I hope to get some answers. I applied two days ago to La Inter. Does anyone know if I'll get an acceptance letter on time before August? I'm planning to visit during the week of July 8th then attend orientation on july 24th. Ok, here are my questions:

What do you like most about the program and what do you like least?

are the professors helpful in answering questions? Or are they strict?

Describe a typical clinical day.

Would you recommend La Inter to US students?

Where is the safest place to live near the school?

Is it necessary to own a car there?

What is the nclex passing rate?

What advice would you give me that you wish someone toldyou before?

are there breaks in between trimesters?

Thanks everyone! All your comments have been super helpful! Have a pleasant day!
