Quick question how much do you as students pay for rent how much did it cost to ship your goods and car there. I'm not to worry about financial aid since I will have my g.i bill from the military. Do you think it will be reasonable to find a place for $500 month security gated community? Also that christan class will a bible class work also did all of u guys take spanish 1 and 2 before applying how long did it take to look at transripts?

They will allow you to start the accelerated program if you have approximately 4 general education classes left, but no more. That's what kept me out of the accelerated program--I was a few over the limit. So, you may want to check that out snowshyne.

Also, I noticed that the associates degree follows the same "track" as the accelerated program. I was wondering what would stop someone from starting as an associate degree seeker and then switching to bachelors after a few trimesters?? I probably would have thought of that for myself, but when I started, the associates wasn't accredited so I didn't even think about going that route. If I would have done that, I probably would have been finished in June. Blahhhhhhhh!!!! Oh well, things happen for a reason, right? And I wouldn't suggest trying that route until you ask one of the directors at the school if you can switch from associates to bachelors with no problem. They tend to be strict about some things, so you never know LOL But I'm thinking that if you just want your associates you could *probably* start in November since they follow the same track as the accelerated. But like I said---ask!!!
Misty you are right. We had a guy in our program (accelerated) that did not have a Bachelors but he was just planning to get his associates. He was the ONLY person that planned from day one to only do the associates. After the school became accredited for the associates then we had quite a few that were going to do their Bachelors but decided to stay just for the associates.

Now this guy had to take the general ed classes along with the nursing classes but he ended up just having one or two classes additional per trimester and the accelerated program is only about 12 or 13 units a trimester. They could totally make the program a year and a half if we took 16 units per trimester.

Yes you can most certainly find a place for 500 in a gated community and close to school. If you are on the accelerated track you don't need any Spanish at all. It depends if you have a Bachelors or not. Since you are using a GI bill then I would assume you do not have a Bachelors and you will be on the regular track.

I don't know exactly how the non accelerated program works. I knew people in the non accelerated program that had taken a lot of Spanish in high school and college but still needed Spanish at La Inter. I had a previous Bachelors in French. Yeah supper helpful in PR. But I didn't need any Spanish. Kind of weird that they require Christian Faith and History of PR but do not require a single Spanish class.

The time it takes for the school to respond to you will vary. You have to be on top of it hounding them and the best is if you can come here in person and sort it out.

The bible class you took is a Christianity class so it should work but you have to talk to the school. I was exempt but I went to a Catholic University and decided to minor in religious studies because we had to take so many religious studies classes. Never thought that minor would end up helping me out. But it got me out of a class.

I was thinking about this. And the weird thing is I know someone who started the program and was one class shy of a Bachelors. The school would not take the time to evaluate the transcripts of this student and said the student would have to do the non accelerated track.

I knew there were about 5 or so people in our class that did not have Bachelors but were very close and they were allowed to do the accelerated track with us.

So I don't know why they gave this student a hard time. I think though that they are getting a lot more strict about a lot of things in the program.

i'm slowly getting to meet some of you guys! Its nice to put a face to your username! lol. Anyways, hopefully i'll be able to meet more of you in the near future!

Did anyone here attend the NSA meeting today? I completely forgot; until I remembered at around 5pm when I had class . Can anyone give me any insight? I requested to be a member on the FB page.

Living in La Cumbre area is nice since its a short walk to school but walking in the heat sucks! lol!

I havent met that many because i'm really shy and some people probably think i'm snobby...but it's me just being shy. Hopefully i'll be able to meet more people as time passes.

For a Studio with Electricity and Water in La Cumbre (which is a short talk to school to Interamericana) only costs me $395.00. and La Cumbre is in a gated community. But, as I was told before, the gated communities here are not what you will be used to back in the states. yet, its very safe I actually really like my studio and my neighborhood. Its really quiet and being that I am a girl, I feel safe living there and walking at night to and from.

I personally only took one year of spanish but i dont think they even cared? All classes are in English. Sometimes the teachers talk in spanish but thats usually when they are just chit chatting. When it comes to actual information, its in english. And more than likely your Bible Class will be able to transfer. Just make sure you send in any course descriptions from your university for for whatever classes you will be wanting to count towards it. For example, I never took "History of Puerto Rico." Instead, I send the course description for all my History classes and Chicano Studies classes hoping they would accept ONE of those! And sure enough, I dont have to take "history of puerto rico"

As for me, i applied Late May 2011...got accepted Mid-late June 2011 and moved here in July 2011 ! It was quick and fast! To ensure they received your application with ALL your documents (or else it will take longer) get a Return Receipt! My recommendation is that you send everything at once though. If not, they will keep mailing you letters saying that you have to send this document, or that document and it will take your acceptance process much longer. Hope this helps

This is interesting. I talked to Dr. A. today and was told that I would have to come for an interview. She said it can't be done over the phone. She would like to me to come in September, so I will probably be there next month. Apparently I will need to speak with the director and explain why I want to be a nurse, etc. So apparently they are getting more strict about the program.

She did say that if I start in November, one could do either the accelerated program or the non-accelerated program. And she said a Bachelors is required for the accelerated program, so they must be implementing more rules there as well. I wonder if it depends on who you talk to. Most people talk to "E", so I wonder what I would have been told if I had called him. Or maybe they are trying to move towards a certain goal? I'm not sure why they would accept some students with a Bachelors and others without.

On a positive note, I picked her brain about being accepted to the school, and she seemed to think I would be accepted. From the other posters, it seems like most everyone is accepted. But with new rules and such, I wasn't sure.

There are quite a few shy people in nursing but at the same time there are quite a few big personalities. But I think everyone is so welcoming so you should not have a problem at all.

Yes I went and I decided to run as a vocal. I can't name names on this board but all the people that were voted into positions are listed in the courtyard of the nursing building on a large easel.

I am going to try to go to your class tomorrow to solicit members for the nursing association. I know your class is so large you guys were divided in two groups of 50. I think this is the first year that the English accelerated program is larger than the English non accelerated program. Do you have prof "J" tomorrow or the other prof for Fundamentals at 8 PM

The clubs are good ways to meet people. I am an officer in the Intercultural Association as well and we have fun cultural field trips around the island that the school pays for.

I met Mrs. A when I was registering for my classes. hahaha. and i know several people who are in the accelerated BSN program who dont have their bachelors. THats krazy that they changed it so rapid! Kuz i barely applied late May and already started my program in the beginning of classes. thats different???

Hey! For my Fundamentals at 8pm I have Professor C. We actually start at 8:15pm because our Pharmacology class ends at 7:55pm so she gave us time for a small break after Pharm. She's the one with like blondish/brownish hair? From 3-10pm i'm in the same exact room since Pharm is at 6pm and Basic Principles is from 3-5:30pm! argh! I think i'm going to know every crack and crevice of that room by the end of that trimester! lol. and yah, hopefully you'll be able to make it to my Fundamentals @ 8:15pm to recruit more people...BUT i will warn you, we have a test today. So hopefully you are able to make it before or after we start our class kuz she might not be too happy. lol.

And by the way, do you think I will be able to turn in my form and fees to you if you do come in today?? I want to turn that in as soon as possible or else I might forget and I have cash on me today (which is very RARE). I usually only use the plastic. lol.

By the way, people in the olden years used to call me Step-On-Me or Stefunny (just a hint so you kan know my real name). lol

If you have an exam I won't go then. I certainly don't want to interfere on the day of an exam. Amongst all the officers we'll make sure everyone gets signed up.

You guys have a ton of new teachers by the way. I guess because your class is so large they needed to hire more. I know the teachers teaching the other half of your class but not yours. And they are even doing the schedule a little different if you have Basics on Th. Usually all Basics classes are on Tues. I am sure Thursadays are long for you but at least you have Tues off.

By the way it is only 6 USD for the year for each of the clubs.

Can you try to find another one? It is not like you are registered for it. In the past it was part of registration and it cost another unit. This was before my time. That is a waste to go to school in the middle of the day for 2 hours. You should be able to switch to another time slot if there are less than 10 people.

By the way what street are you on in Las Cumbres? And do you live in La Cumbre I?
