Belle is leaving =[ I'll visit you in Tampa only a 5 hrs drive from my house in FL

BTW npandres many of the students in my school say its better to go around and look for apartments because most of them will not be online. So plan a trip here for a few days and start walking around or driving (its been getting hot lately ugh summer will be horrible lol).

I wish you all good luck! I'm finishing up my first year and it's been the best thing I've ever done! I have a love/hate relationship with the island but if you take it day by day it will be an amazing experience.

At La Inter we have an NCLEX review the last trimester and I'll tell you it is kicking my butt. There is no stats on pass rates because half of our class it Puerto Rican and they are not planning to take the NCLEX.

I heard that no one has actually gone to the hospital since last year because UMET is working out some kinks with the VA. Too bad you guys don't have back up hospitals. La Inter works with almost every hospital. You do spend the first half of the trimester at school and the last half in the hospital.

I am not trying to dis on UMET but Jen always presents it like it is the golden ticket but she speaks Spanish. I know several people that transfered from UMET to La Inter and another doing it in the fall. If you speak Spanish and can take some of your classes in Spanish then yes you can finish early. If you don't it will probably take a long time because the classes don't fill up and there may only be one person so the class is cancelled and then the student is forced to take a class they don't need and hope they can get a nursing class the next bimester.

So if you don't speak Spanish it could take a very long time.

The people that transfered from UMET to Inter wanted to finish faster and their nursing classes were canceled for lack of students. Now Inter it will be the opposite. You will have too many people in your classes. Lecture classes cap at 50 and this year the accelerated program has 100 students so they have two professors for every class. Clinicals cap at 10 students, no exceptions.

La Inter is far, far from perfect but just look at all your options before you choose.

Oh and they are trying to limit enrollment a little bit so the lowest GPA they will accept is now 2.5 and not 2.0. I am glad they are tightening enrollment a bit. And there is a new assistant director who is awesome.

Nursekeke I was initially going to start at la inter but then began reading some not so good things about it on here so I found a post about umet. Last year I made a trip here in May and visited both schools and I liked umet much more than la inter. Just my opinion. None of my classes have been cancelled and probably won't because the group I started with was about seven people and we've met some from the Spanish program along the way. Clinicals so far have been in the VA and are amazing! Plus we get a review for the nclex in our last semester which is a class offered by the school and the professor has a 95% pass rate

Well I'm tired of you presenting UMET like its a horrible place. I have told students here check BOTH I never say which one is better than the other. I speak spanish yes and so does everyone else in my class we are FULLY bilingual and it is to our advantage in the hospital. We didnt go to the hospital last PT which was Jan-Feb because of the chicken pox outbreak which is occuring in every hospital here. We do our clinicals at the VA and I enjoy my clinicals here. Anyone who comes here thinking that not knowing spanish is ok well honestly is hard because the nurses speak mostly spanish and yes there are nurses who speak english but what about the patients??? They speak spanish and they rather speak spanish because its their first language. UMET is a BILINGUAL program. Our NURSING classes are in ENGLISH and general Ed. are in spanish some in english. You have to remember yogi UMETS program started not so long ago. I'm pretty sure La Inter's program was just the same when it began because UMET's nursing director is the same who started La Inter's program. So stop making one school better than the other just because a few students had a bed experince you dont see me telling all the bad things about la inter which I've herd. Let the students decide when they go.

What I like about my school is the relationship the nursing students have with the director its one on one and she is always available to talk with her students unless she out in the states doing something important.

Believe me I am NOT saying La Inter is the better school. We have TONS of problems and they are noted all over this board. All of us stated front and center all the La Inter issues.

However, you always present UMET like it is perfect and I hear from current students and ones that left this summer that it has just as many problems. Just different problems like canceling classes. We have so many students they couldn't cancel them. It may be two weeks before you have a professor but that same thing happened to my friends at UMET too.

I hardly presented UMET like it is a horrible place. I just told all the truths that you conveniently left out.
