Hello, everyone,

I have been a long time reader and finally decided to post. I am applying for fall'10, I will be applying at Valpo and Gary. I am taking ANP 102, PSYC, and Technical Writing. I plan on taking Micro, Advance Physiology, Socialogy and Critical Thinking in Spring. I know is going to be difficult, but I consider it a personal challenge. Those are the only classes I have left. I would like to have summer free so I can spen time with my three boys ages 9, 5 and 2 and husband. I took ANP 101 and Math 118 this summer and I had time for nada but school. It was a lot of work, but I made it through and got an A out of both classes. Has anyone taken the TEAS? I want to take it sometime in November.

Hey magnolia, glad to have ya!

What was Math118 like in the summer? I'm planning to take it in summer 2010 and I'm a little nervous. Also, what do you think of Tech Writing? I'm planning to take the 8 week class this spring and also take the 8 week Exposition and Persuasion class since its needed for the BSN at USI. I did really well in Engl111 this past summer, so I'm pretty (though not totally) confident that I can do it.
I've not taken the TEAS yet. I will in the Spring. How's APHY102 going? I'm in 101 right now and it's not too bad. I'm pretty nervous about the midterm coming up, though!
I have kiddos myself, four of them, and I'm doing okay at keeping everything together. Luckily my hubby is pretty easy going with everything and understands that's only for awhile and it's for the good of our whole family. *whew* I'm pretty tired most days, though!

BTW...I'm at the Evansville campus.

Hi teranator,

Thank you and sorry I took so long to reply. Math 118 wasn't bad at all, I had to play catch up all the time because I concentrated mainly on APHY 101. The only reason I took the two together is because I like math and I wanted an easy class to take with APHY 101. I am sure you'll do just fine. Technical Writing is easy and boring, we have to do memos, emails, flyers, resumes, etc. Perfect for an 8 week class.
When is your midterm? let me know how you do. I find APHY 102 easier than APHY 101, so far is going well. We started the immune system last week.
Is good to hear that your husband supports you, it is a big part of making it through. Mine turns into Mr. Mom on the weekend, that's when I do most of my studying. How old are your kids? What other classes are you taking?

My kiddos are 13, 11, 7, (all girls) and 1 (the only boy). I'm taking lifespan development, intro to interpersonal communications, and medical insurance and coding besides APHY this semester. It's not too bad, except that I've had to write a ton of papers. Well, only four actually, but they were all due around the same time, so it was kind of a pain.
Are you enjoying Psych? I took it last semester and it was okay. I really like lifespan development. I want to continue on to be a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, so this should help me out some. :-)

I'm doing pretty good I'm maintaining a B. I'm not very good at math and really wish I would have taken it Face to Face but I really just didn't have the time this semester.

So, math118 isn't so bad, even if you're not a 'math' person?

Jumping in here I took 118 last spring. It all depends on what you are typically okay with or good at in math, or not. I am generally pretty good with math and though most of the course was relatively easy. . . but I HATE probability and my brain has such a hard time with all that type of stuff. So, I had to spend a lot more time on those chapters. I got an A but I could not tell you how to do the last few chapters right now, my brain promptly forgot all about how to do it LOL.

I am 'ehh' in math. Algebra is really no problem, it's geometry that kills me. Why do I need to know how to find the slope of something when I have no numbers or only a part of the number? I don't enjoy it, but I suppose I see the logic in it, since it helps us to think 'abstractly' or something like that. I hope I don't have to use it in everyday life because I couldn't tell you how to do anything with geometry...lol except find the slope of a line when I have all the information

I have completely changed my Spring schedule around and I'm only taking one "needed" class and that's APHY102. The others are all for 'fun', but will help in Nursing or can be used as a backup in case I don't get in right away and need to get a job. I decided to take Pharmacology online along with Dosage Calc and an advanced medical insurance course. They are all online. I'm also taking one of the life skills courses. Has anyone taken Pharmacology or Dosage Calc online?

Isn't Pharmacology a Nursing course that you can only get into if you are in the program? Maybe it's different at different campuses though. I know Dosage Calc is an HLS (?) course like Med. Term though.

I actually found an online pharmacology class while looking at classes through campus connect that only requires med term first. I was pretty happy about that. Also, a friend of mine was planning to take pharmacology at her campus, but I'm not sure how she looked that up.

I'm pretty excited about it! It's not for nurses, but I feel that it will help prepare me to take the nursing courses.
