Anyone going to MEDTECH COLLEGE?

You won't find many here that are attending that school since they are ridiculously expensive and their credits don't transfer.

Currently I go to Medtech Greenwood campus. I am 1/2 way done with 4 quarters to go. I'll play the devils advocate and try to break down what I know vs what I've heard. Medtech imho is expensive, very expensive. How I decided it was worth it was paying the extra money was to be able to get right into classes vs being waitlisted. Many of my classmates have had been waiting 2+ years to get into a community college program. Another plus for me was that they build the pre-reqs into the program so no taking pre-reqs for a year then being waitlisted. Okay now for the negatives, the school is currenlty under initial accreditation with the state nursing board of Indiana and hopefully after we graduate some classes who go on to pass the nclex the school will get full status. The fact most credits may not transfer can be misleading, back int he day before Ivy Tech became the largest educator in the State it was considered a joke where the credits for classes would not transfer but the dregrees would. This is no longer the case as Ivy Tech has many connections with other colleges now. I forsee in the future Medtech may get the same respect. In the meantime I think Bethel College is in the work to take Medtech degrees in nursing for their BSN program. I think some distance programs for BSN's may also take medtech degrees in the near future. I am not going to touch tryingt o state if the school is "good" or not by saying, so far I believe when I graduate I will be prepared to take the Nclex and pass....and I hope and pray I can get into a good orientation program at a hospital to help reinforce my skills and fill in the holes. One bad thing about the school not having a waitlist or a more detailed screening process is I believe it lets in a few students that maybe shouldnt have and the school is soo expensive it sucks to find out that nursing is not for you after racking up 20k-30k in student loans. But aside from all the above, its a school, they offer a RN degree, and with pre-reqs built in its almost an accelerated program at only 2 years total.

I am starting the LPN program 9/28/2009 I attented Ivy Tech for 2 years and none of my credits transferred, yeah that part stinks! It is also very expensive. My reason for choosing MedTech instead of waiting to get into Ivy Tech's program is simple. I will be taking my classes and clinicals at night. I have four children so this is EXTREMELY helpful when it comes to the cost of daycare. I am actually saving money I have read a lot of posts about it being so "easy" to get into the program. I don't agree with that either. I took the TEAS test 3 times prior to taking it at MedTech and I have to say that the TEAS I took at MedTech was so much harder. I eventually want to become an RN as well, and I have already started talking to schools online about getting into a LPN-RN program. If that doesn't work, MedTech does offer a LPN-RN program that is 12 months long. My plan is once I start working, I hope someone else will foot some of the bill for me to continue

I don't believe the TEAS changes from school to school. Its administered by ATI. Individual schools don't write their own.

It isn't created by the school, but it was a lot harder. I'm not sure how many different versions they have but I struggled with that particular test So far, I have been very pleased with MedTech. It has seemed very one on one and any questions that I have had so far have been answered promptly. I hope my experience at the school is just as good
