How would you interpret this order:
Medication: Prilosec
Dose: 20 mgs
Amount: 2 tabs
Two 20mg tabs [40 mgs total]? Or 20mg total dosage [two 10mg tabs]?

I would interpret the "2 tabs" as being irrelevant to the dose, but if that is actually how the order is written by the Physician then I would interpret it as: this physician is an idiot.

Yeah, order clarification needed. But i think it's doubtful the physician is an idiot. They probably just made a mistake. We all need to be on the lookout for things like this, and help each other out. It's one thing if its a pattern, but I give my colleagues the benefit of the doubt when I see a mistake/omission like that!
I am glad the radiologist called to clarify when I ordered a pelvic ultrasound to evaluate a left breast mass, for example

Although they did probably make fun of me when they got that order lol.
