Ok, so yesterday I read a post somewhere on here about EC doing away with the lpn NC overlook and the addition of clinical hours... I wanted to read it again and follow up ...anyone know where this is? Know if this has actually changed?
Sorry Im a little confused..

I'm confused too. In general though, look for EC-related posts in this forum, the LPN/LVN Corner, and the LPN to RN Forum.

I am looking at Excelsior's web site. It clearly states that there are 7 nursing theory exams. The NC 2 exam can be waived if you hold a current and valid LPN or LVN nurse license and you graduated in the last 5 years from a LPN/LVN program.

they are changing the rules come 10-1-07 there will be a extra concept i think and some sort of assessment check of...go look at the website...you must enroll by 10-1-2007 not to be effected by these changes..but for the lvn's and concepts 2 ..it is completely waived with no time limit on when you graduated.. here is the note directly from the ec website...they used to have a 5 yr time limit but they done away with that about a year or so ago...
the nursing concepts 2 exam can be waived if you hold a current and valid us licensed practical nurse or licensed vocational nurse license. if however, you have taken the nursing concepts 2 or commonalities in nursing care area b examination and have failed it, credit for this examination will not be awarded.

Remember that if you can not find info, or are confused about anything on their website, you can always call the school and talk to a rep. They are usually very good at answering questions and very polite and encouraging.
The biggest change on Oct 1 that most people will not welcome is the addition of another clinical evaluation besides the dreaded weekend CPNE. Part of this includes supervision of team members and, as I recall, a demonstration of a health assessment of a patient. I, for one, do not have the money to add yet another trip and clinical assessment. I will be lucky if I can manage what they already have in front of me. These changes are major and costly. That is the reason why I take every chance to warn people asking about EC on this board to enroll by Oct 1, if they want to do EC.

they only waive nsg con 2 if you went to an nln accredited college for lpn/lvn and got a b or higher within 5 yrs. if itsn't accredited, then you have to do it,regardless.doesn't make sense at all.:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire
this is the way it used to be but as of 8/06 this has changed. now all lvn/pn's are exempt.
