Ok, don't laugh, but one thing I have begun to do is compile a file of all the tips and strategies that people post on this website about the dreaded CPNE. I just copy the posting and paste it into a Word document and print it out. That way, I never have to worry about finding them again when I need them. I have a ways to go yet before the CPNE, but figure whatever information I can store away will always come in handy. Thanks Chris and Spazz, as usual, you guys are the diviners of great wisdom!

I'm not laughin'! I did the exact same thing! I even had a TON of CPNE experiences that I had saved to read and learn off of.

I did that too, for the CPNE. I posted my date and had several people email me privately, offering me their narratives. Mostly the help I got there was some practical ideas for between the PCS's (don't talk anything negative and don't listen to anyone who does was probably the most valuable piece of info).

One poor soul actually gave me a phone number where I could reach her--I did call the first afternoon and once or twice later. Made such a difference!!!!

It's like that song (maybe Alabama sang it?) about angels among us. Truly.

Yeah--thanks, Spazzy. You helped me keep my feet on the ground when I was in danger of going off the deep end. Maybe I can credit you in part with the success of the last two PCS's.....

    tacky.... indeed.....

LOL, You two crack me up. To the unsuspecting surfer it sounds like "who wants to be a millionare!"

Guess in some ways the CPNE is like going for broke. Although, I wonder how the testing staff would feel about adding the "phone a friend" option to the CPNE weekend??

chris-the-girl, you were unusually calm for someone in the midst of your cpne weekend. i was amazed! you passed that thing all by yourself. but up and coming cpners-- as i said in another post, chris is abnormal. her brain works differently than ours do. if you get nervous during your weekend have no fear-- that is completely normal. chris is not.

opalm-- i love your phone-a-friend idea!! what a riot! :chuckle sometimes things can go wrong though..... once, i was out for the evening with my husband. my babysitter called and said "some guy from the clinic called about lab results". even after a couple of beers i was able to figure out that she meant a friend of mine had called from his clinical after testing out on the labs.

Actually, I was very nervous. I kept worrying if there was something obvious to everyone else that I did not see. (Like, I really am not prepared for this, right?)

I've gotten to a place where my anxiety is managed differently than when I was younger. I kind of adopt a "can't do a darned thing about it other than what I can actually do" attitude and grit my teeth through the pain.

    Like labor, I guess.

Ask my DH, though, I do not manage stress well. However, he has learned a new "trick." He puts his arms around me and says (as I am spinning out of control), "this is not good for you, and it is not good for us."

He's right, of coure, darned him!

BTW, if it isn't evident, Spazzy and opalm, you are both email buds to me.

We oughta start a freaking club. (Oh, yeah--it's EC's nontrad nursing program! Silly me.....)

    Now, where's my million?

    Is that your final answer?

Chris, don't you worry. The phone a friend thing happened to ME! I was the Graduate LPN liaison with the new LPN class that followed me. Spoke to them about what to expect, etc. Well, come time to write the licensing exam (CNATS)...one of the students called me to ask what was on the test!!!!!! I would NEVER have had the nerve!

That's pretty gutsy and stupid--she could have been reported for attempting to cheat--and maybe should have been, though I wouldn't have wanted that on my conscience....

I can share an equally gutsy distasteful anecdote. I was tooling around on ebay and saw someone had listed numerous study guides, including "tips" which she described as being drawn from "actual test questions."

I called EC, let them know what I had found, sent them the URL, supposedly they were going to shut her down with ebay's help.

After two weeks, nothing. So I called again. It had been turned over to the legal department at the school, blah, blah, blah. I looked again more recently, she's still at it, still a registered seller on ebay.

I guess it doesn't matter. (Given what you know about my "discussion" with EC about the so-called honesty policy, Spazzy, isn't that just too, too bizarre?)
