do you remember not getting the psychiatric books as part of the package...for some reason I did not get them and they were on the list. I am waiting for a call back from OU.
I wanted a dictionary anyway but I bought one and they sent me one as well. I will just return one of them. Thank you
No, psych isn't until your 3rd semester and it was in a separate book package, that was sold right before 3rd semester.

Well unless they change the clinical rotation sequence, you'll be taking Med-surg and OB/L&D during your second semester, which coincides with your Murray book - Maternal/Newborn - and then your third semester, you'll do Critical Care, Psych, and Peds.

I just took a look at Fall 2009 Second Semester students' schedule and they're still doing the same rotation sequence. So I dunno. Just sharing what we've done and what looks like what's in the works for Fall Second semester people.

Hmmm, there was a lot of talk in Glendale about changing the program around (something like moving Pharm to 1st semester and moving Intro to Prof Nursing to the intersession with Disability), but as far as I know the clinical schedule remains the same:
Clinical I -medical II, oncology, or other general med-surg floor,
Clinical II - a tele unit such as PTU or CTU and L&D,
Clinical III - Psych, Critical Care (in glendale this is CCU, ICU, ER, and SICU), and Peds,
Clinical IV - preceptorship of 144 hours in an assigned unit

Most likely that's the schedule the folks in OK follow, I've learned just to not pay that close attention to all the paperwork, b/c it always seems to be changing. Plus we don't follow exactly what the people in OK are doing, and that's where a lot of that paperwork comes from. Hopefully that's changed for you guys, but it looks like some of it still is the same stuff.

    Hello Everyone,

Let me start by saying that I have been following this thread for the last 6 months. I am currently taking pre-reqs, but hope to start this prorgam in January 2010. I love all the questions and information that has been on this site...it's been a pleasure to follow. I figure it's about time I jump in and say hello...

I just had a couple quick questions for everyone who has been accepted to the program:

Did anyone still have pre-reqs in progress when the applied? And if so, were you accepted with them in progress or did you reapply?

Also, did anyone have a problem securing financial aid?

Lastly, were there any regrets about choosing this program?

    Thanks everyone!

    Hi enb611,

Just answering your questions as far as I'm concerned....all of my prereqs were completed when I applied for the program. Financial aide was a breeze. Just fill out the FAFSA online (Oklahoma will send you instructions for all of this once you start your application for the program) and they will send you an award letter based on your results. You have the option to either accept or decline the money awarded to you. Two of my awarded loans were a combo of sub and unsubsidized federal loans....and the last loan was an "alternative loan". The alternative loan is something you have to put into motion yourself and find your own personal lender. Oklahoma has a list of preferred lenders you can pick and choose from. Oh yeah.......just because you receive an award letter does not mean you have been accepted into the program.....I think this confused a lot of people...but it's just the way Oklahoma works. You will receive your acceptance letter later.
Regrets???? Gosh I hope not. LOL

    Hi enb,

I applied to the program twice, once with 3 prereqs in progress and once when they were finished and (obviously) I didn't get in until the second time when everything was complete. I believe they are no longer admitting people with prereqs in progress (unless maybe it is only one non-science class). My financial aid award letter was the same as hotegr's...just be aware that you're likely to only be offered loans, although there are private scholarships you can apply for (we're just not eligible for federal or state grants etc.). As far as any regrets...I don't have any yet because I start the program this month! I'll let you know if any come up.

    KT
