Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

A new allnurse friend was telling me about a new package that EC has.I called the admissions office today and to get details and it's called the ADN PACKAGE. The cost is $1560 per yr. Its designed for EC students that want to complete the EC program in less than 1 yr.

It goes in Effect July 1, 2009 and includes:

Enrollment fee

Graduation fee

4 nursing exams(unlimited)

4 practice test

All this for $1560 a yr. The CPNE is NOT included.(Additional $1950)

You do have to pay an additional $40 a month while waiting for the CPNE.

Now here is where I got a little confused. I asked them what about the other 4 nursing test. He told me that they were included also if you could finish them within the year. If you don't, Then you have to pay an additional $1560 for the second yr.

They said this Package was only for very motivated people who could finish the EC program in 1 yr. They wanted to make it affordable for them.

I think its great! So if you are gunho about EC this is definetly something to look into. I sure wish they had this when I was doing it. I completed the whole program in 1 yr and my friend completed it in 10 months.

I asked them could I get a refund. They said "No, I am sure you will make the tution up with your wonderful new career as a RN." I chuckled but a part of me was very envious of this great deal.

Good Luck to all! I just thought I would share.

No wonder the gentleman from EC who called last night asked me if I was going to enroll anytime soon and if I was planning to complete the program in a yr or less.....Told him yes & he asked if I got my enrollment packet and if I would like an advisor to call me today. No one has called as of yet.

Looks like the fcca is also included with the price. Wish I would have had this option.

After reading link what I posted above, It looks like you would pay 1550.00 for 1st year enrollment, 1440.00 for second year (I'd clarify if you still had to pay this if you finished in one year) The third year you would pay $100 a month if you still had nursing clases to take or $40.00 a month if you still had general education.

It kind of looks to me that you might be locked into 2 years of payments at least. If you interested in this make sure you get it clarified.

So you finish all exams and courses within 1 year and get in line for CPNE and your 1 year enrollment date comes and goes. Then what? Hmmm....

https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/Financial_Aid_and_Costs/Fees_and_Tuition/Associate_Degree_Nursing_Fee_Options/Associate_Degree_Nursing_Fee_Option_Year_Two

this page explains what happens for year 2

Basically if at the end of year one:

you still have nursing exams - then you can opt out of the package plan and pay enrollment fee OR continue in the package plan year two and pay the 1,440

if you have only gen ed's - you pay 40$ per month until you are done with them, then nothing while you wait for CPNE.

This is how I read the info at least.

So what if one has finished all nursing exams in a couple of months (as some have done on this forum), and don't have any general education courses to complete except Information Literacy. What is the total cost of this education if one if just waiting for the CPNE? Is it worth it or should one just stick with the standard package?

wow!! so, i think this may have been some of the motivation that i've been looking for...if this is really what it appears to be, not only would i not have to change my work schedule, lose my benefits, go nuts "playing the game" at my local cc, it would also end up being cheaper than my local cc, even after some savvy shopping on ebay and amazon for textbooks! wow! gotta make some phone calls today!:yeah:

Sounds great but there are 8 theory exams for the ASN... But for about $5100; that still a great price... Do it but please read the fine print..... GOOD LUCK....

I agree about the fine print---how many people SAID they were gonna finish it in 1 year and then life happens and cant for some reason. Youre locked in...Itll work out well for those who make it work and some may be very unhappy about it.

So true! It can be done with alot of motivation. I know 3 people(myself included) who has completed the program in less than 1 yr under the new curriculum. Too bad we didn't get the discount but I can't complain I have RN behind my name. The $9 per hr pay increase has made a big difference in my life and I am lovin it!:D

See the General Eds are what took me forever--I started them before enrolling with EC though. I took Health Safety in February then enrolled in March and have taken an exam a month since---I cant say that I couldve done it like that if I worked full-time though--I treat studying as my job right now. I think this may work well for the people who have researched and know the ropes but the people who are just jumping in cause it looks like a good deal---might be in for a rude awakening---remember EC is a BUSINESS. They wouldnt do this unless it was going to make them $$$ some how. Good luck guys!
