Robert Ross Intn'l Univ. of Nursing

  1. Hi,
Is anyone familar with the accreditation of the Nursing program for the Robert Ross International University of Nursing in the Carribeans? It is affiliated with Seminole Community College in Oklahoma State which has a NLNAC accreditation. Students with this Nursing program would only finish the program there for 2-3 semesters. Does this imply that the International Nursing program is a partially accredited program?
    Can anyone explain?

    Thanks,

    Sherryli

    Hi Mona,

This "No Waiting List" 21 months - Associate Degree Nursing program located at St. Kitts, Carribean Islands and its affiliated school Seminole Community College in Oklahoma State has a website at: www.iuon.org/video.

Additional helpful readings on the school are:
    >> allnurses.com Nursing News forum titled "International school opens" and also General Nursing Discussion forum titled "Want to study nursing in St. Kitts?"
    >> www.forbes.com/forbes/2005/1128/088 titled "One Last Hurrah"

The California associate director of admissions from the school recently responded to my email. He wrote, "our Seminole Community College Affiliate nursing school is accredited by WASC [the Western Association of Schools and Colleges] which is the official accrediation agency for the Western Region of the United States. They are the same official agency that accredits your high school and Cerritos College and all others."

    Hope this was helpful.

Best wishes on your NCLEX Exam!

God bless you on your endeavors.

    Take care,

    Sherryli

I personally would need to do more research on the accrediation by WASC.

NCLEX is a national exam that all RNs have to take to work in the US. And it has reciprocity with all of the 50 states, however, educational requirements vary between states, and just because your program is accepted in one state doesn't guarantee that it will meet the requirements in all states. You need to do your homework first and make sure that it is accepted by your BON, if you are going a non-traditional route. And this would be a non-traditional route.

The other reason for the no-waiting list is the tuition. Check it out.

I checked this program out and the clinical is done with a "sister" school in the US. That is where I am checking the accredidation as this school also has to be NLN approved in order to sit for PA boards.

Thanks for checking it out. The "sister" school is Seminole Community College in Oklahoma State.

I spoke more about this private international nursing school on the General Nursing Discussions Forum titled "Anyone Enrolled at Robert Ross IUON..."

    Thanks again,

Check out the University of the Virgin Islands. It is much cheaper and you can sit for N-Clex after completing. My daughter toyed with going there. There wasn't a wating list 2 years ago. She found another school, Thomas Jefferson ASN at Geisinger, with no waiting list. Overeall, she's very satisfied w/ this program. She's on track to graduate in May, 2008.

Good luck. I hope you can do this w/o spending a huge amount of $$$!
