Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Winter my Literature Review was 5000 words without the title or references. It took me hours to delete info only to bring my word count down to 3800 words. My TTI score was 4% which I thought was weird because she said they would be high. I am nervous to see how she grades that assignment, I hope I did everything right. I thought since I went over on the Literature Review that I will keep the Theory paper short but ummmm not! I went over on that too but only by 20 words I think.

Since we are discussing instructors that rock, I have to tell you that the "unknown" instructor I have for research is incredible. She is everything I think that an instructor should be. She responds to almost half of the discussion posts with actual responses that are not just cut and paste generic responses. She has had an ongoing conversation in the individual forum about picking research studies for this class and my capstone. And all discussions are meaningful and responsive (and long... not short or one word answers).

I can't wait to see how she grades and what feedback I will get. I think I have a keeper here!! AND, she teaches every nursing class except for stats......

Inquiring minds would love to know a great instructor. Though I will say poo, as you are two weeks ahead of me at this time, so little chance to get any of the same great instructors you may find.

Mammao... Welcome to GCU. Once you get over the first class you will do great. Just make sure you set yourself a schedule. Read all the class material and don't leave the assignment until the last minute. Theres plenty of folk here that have gone through and are still going through GCU, and are a wonderful resource.

Okay Intro to research starts on April 20th... I feel the palpatations coming on!

I'm making up for instructor questions this time around. She just keeps saying, no problem! She's going to make me cry and I'm not a crier! I've asked more questions in this class than I have in all my previous classes combined! She rocks!!!

So glad you decided to go ahead and take Capstone earlier than you planned. She is definitely worth the initial stress of doubling up. You'll be done before you know it. Yippee!!

Every paper was over. I think the word count is unrealistic

Research isn't bad, but pay close attention.

Yes, you saved my bacon girl! That one week was insane, but 20 days left to go and I am SO glad. Someone is going to have to hold me down when this is done, I am going to be floating on cloud 9, make that cloud 100!!!!

I agree, especially following stats. Just wish Cap would follow research.

To the crew getting ready to graduate.... First off CONGRATULATIONS. Second did it go by fast? I know everyone keeps talking about caps and to pay attention in intro to research. I can only immagine with 15 articles the amount of review must be enormous. Do all these articles have to be research articles or can I pull from AHRQ, WHO, surviving sepsis, and CDC?

Winter I agree that Capstone should follow Research as they go hand in hand.
