Q about 'visiting times'

Nursing Students Online Learning

I am currently preparing for NC 1, and even though this is sort of a general question (also a stupid one), I wanted to post it here because I found it on an EC practice test. The test was posted by someone on a yahoo study group.

I wont write it word for word, but it had to do with close friends coming to visit a mva pt for the first time, having driven 80 miles, they get to hosp 5 min before visiting time ends. In my canadian lpn program we were taught to let them stay if they're not disruptive...and this seemed to be the norm wherever I worked. The EC test says to kick them out after the 5 min...when visiting times are over. Am I retarded?! Where or when is this normal? Does anyone really do this?

Right nwo I have just finished ready a review book for Rn, and one bit of advice it gives is to remember that when taking and preparing for NCLEX( not traditional nursing school test) they are testing you on what the nursing book says, not what "real life" says or does.

Maybe someone else can answer this , are Excelsior test like nursing school where the test are more geared to what the instructors want you to know or more like NCLEX, where you apply the knowledge and do what the books say??
