    Hello all!

    My apologies that this question has already been asked in the past. However, I'm re-asking to see if anything new has turned up in regards to online biochemistry, particularly with a lab (and preferably at a reasonably priced community college).

    Also, does anyone know of any credit-by-examination source for biochemistry? (I realize that, if so, the exam won't grant lab credit.)

    Are you looking for a course that is online with the labs completed online(simulated), labs that you complete at your home or a course that is online except for 1 visit for an all day lab? I know that Ivy Tech College in Indiana offers all three of these options for different courses, but I've not taken a biochemistry course there. I'm also guessing that since they offer these different options, other colleges do too.

    While completing my degree requirements, I've had courses in all three of these styles. Just because they are online, I quickly discovered that online doesn't mean less work that traditional classroom courses. However, I was successful in each course and online was pretty much my only option due to work schedules.

    I'm looking for a biochemistry class that is administered 100% online, but I'm definitely not seeking online because I think it might be easier. Having just completed A&P I with lab online, I've found that online classes often involve more homework/assignments than similar courses in the traditional setting. I need convenience due to scheduling and transportation issues. So, a course that requires one or more campus visits is not feasible for me (while I'm working on my prerequisites).

    Thanks again and any additional info on specific places where I could take such an online biochem course will be greatly appreciated!

    Check www.unex.berkeley.edu for their Intro Biochem X105 online course. I don't know if there is a lab.

    University of New England, Eastern Oregon University, Oregon State, and UC Berkeley have online Biochem. Several in Florida. Check them out to see if they offer labs.

    There's a huge thread regarding online prerequisite courses over at the PA Forum.

    It's been a while since I've checked this thread. Sorry for the delayed reply.

    I did find a fully online Introduction to Organic & Biochemistry course with lab at Clinton Community College, part of the Iowa Community College Online Consortium at Home. The course was quite challenging. Labs were done using ChemLab, a simulation software, and also with common household chemicals and products. We even had to create models of certain organic molecules, photograph them, and place pictures of our models in one of our lab reports, along with commentary on particular properties of the molecules.

    In all, I found the course not only challenging, but also very interesting. Though I managed to get a solid A in the course, it wasn't without a considerable amount of work. About three quarters of the way through, I thought there was a chance I wouldn't even get a B.

    Also, someone asked where to take AP (with lab) online? I took AP I & II online through Clovis Community College.
