Online, accredited RN to BSN ...?

Hello... Its been a long while since I've been here. I gratuated nursing school in May of 2009 and worked for 1 year as a Well Baby Nursery RN. I absolutely loved my job but had to quit because we moved to Florida. Since then I have not worked. I'm finding more and more common that hospitals ask for a BSN. To better my chances of having my dream job again I want to go back to school and get my BSN. Can anybody suggest an affordable, 100% online, accredited program???

I would recommend (). Fully accredited, you can finish in less than a year (many people have finished in less than 6 months, as it's a work-at-your-own-pace program), and they charge per semester, rather than per class. So how much you pay is dependent upon how quickly you finish. If you finish in one term (6 months), the degree will will cost you about $3600. If it takes you two terms, it will cost about $7000.

I’m taking the online RN to BSN program from Unitek College. They are 100% online and accredited. This is the best thing that happened to my career since I started nursing. You take it at your own pace which is very convenient, and I can reach out to others taking the program through the interface. They have in and out of state tuition costs and offer benefits to veterans.

To be clear, Unitek College is not nationally/regionally accredited by the nursing accrediting bodies (CCNE, NLNAC). I would not recommend any program for that reason, as most graduate programs require you receive your BSN through an accredited school.

Just how important is it to receive a BSN accredited by one of those two bodies? I'm seriously looking at South University. They are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Thanks in advance!

Very important if you want to go on to a post-baccalaureate program. Also, some employers don't recognize a non-accredited degree (such as the VA).

I think someone told you the wrong information. Unitek College IS accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. The ACCSC is recognized by the United States Department of Education Welcome | Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges and Accredited Healthcare Training and Business Education School | Unitek College

We are all adults here; I doubt we should be spreading rumors that are not true.

Hi klone Have you attended this university and finished the program in 6 months? Or is this just what you have heard? I went on their web site and it says it may take 18 months or less. Plus, I live in California...when I do finish the program and get my BSN will it matter that the school is not CA located?
