ISU FAQ thread

Nursing Students Online Learning

I thought it might be nice to have the ISU threads divided between an FAQ thread and one for current ISU students. Tweety's idea was to make the ISU Pt. Deux thread the current students one and make a new FAQ one. So if you have questions that are not answered on the first ISU thread then this is the place to ask them. :typing

Hello,

I am enrolled in ISU, have taken all 4 CSMs, the TEAS, and am applying for Spring 2010. If anyone has questions, would be glad to answer them...

I need 2 more pre-req's, but I am ready to start studying the CSM's. How did you study for your 4 CSMs modules, they are huge. What study tactic did you use to get through the books.

Any outlines available. I would like to start in 2010 also, but not towards the end of the year.

Can you help me?

How did you study for your 4 modules. The books are huge.

I just read them, took the practice test and then the challenge exam. They aren't bad at all in difficulty. The peds one was a bear but I'm terrible at developmental stuff. The rest are ok. The exam is very similar to the practice exam in the module.

That's good to hear. Which one do you recommend doing first or does it matter? Do you have any study notes you can share?

Thanks for the encouragement.

Does anyone have a link of the sites that ISU is set up with to do clinicals? I can't find it on the website!

Thanks!

Nevermind! I found it!

I do althought have another question.

I applied to ISU to get started on Phase 2 of the program, when should I hear whether or not I've been accepted or not. The lady told me it had been processed and I've got my transcripts getting sent over.

Should be 2-3 days after they get the transcripts - though might take longer to evaluate all the transfer credit - but they are going through some job cuts, so that may also slow things down.

I am working my way through the tests WITHOUT TCN. If you fail an exam then you have to provide proof you have purchased the modules. So far, I have followed their syllabus for each exam & passed. I am glad I can pursue my BSN this way. Just a degree from EC did not get me the clinical I would like to have. To get ANYWHERE in the VA a Bachelors is a MUST. They do have diploma & ASN nurses but the pay tier is much lower.

Good Luck!

I am in the process of completing all my pre-reqs for the LPN -BSN and ISU. I am wondering if anyone has taken the PE 101+ L through distance learning. I want to know what I am going to have to do. I live near Indianapolis and can't find a transferrable / compatible PE class any where else.

Thanks for any information.

I did the PE class online. It's a no brainer. You have these power points to do each week and take a quiz on and then you have to do projects like record your activity and intake for 2 days, etc. Easy. It took me about 30-60 minutes a week. Just make sure you register early because apparently everyone and their mama needs this class so it fills up early.

Thank you so much. That is exactly what I wanted to hear!!:yeah:
