Nursing Students Online Learning

THis forum is absolutely amazing. :rotfl: I am learning a lot and getting a lot of info. I was told in the beginning of my LVN program (by our instructor) that I should not even contemplate on enrolling in an online/distance learning program (for my RN) because it is a waste of time. Traditional school is not for me since my husband's business (where i help out whenever I can) takes us to different cities or state. One time we had to drive 6 hours straight so I can make it to class on time. Anyways, after reading everybody's post, everybody reached their goals/found success through online courses. You cant imagine how much relief & hope I am feeling right now. But I still have a dilemma, I;m graduating in 3 weeks and probably take my NCLEX in March. Then I want to jump right into an RN program or ADN. From previous postings, some are taking what seems to me pre reqs for RN online. Now, do these online school need to be local to where I live? After I take the pre-reqs (and what are the pre-reqs exactly?) do I have to transfer (and are they transferable) to a community college or another online school like Excelsior? And I read somewhere on this site that CA does not honor Excelsior degree? :crying2: Does Nevada? We are moving to Vegas for a year and half (d/t husband's business) then moving back to Cali again. A friend told me that if I'm done with my RN program I can transfer my license to Cali. Is thistrue? But doesn't an ADN program takes longer than 1 1/2 yr even online? Sorry too many questions. You guys are making me hype! To anybody who replies, thanks in advance...blowing kisses...i love you all :kiss

Unless you enrolled with Excelsior before Dec 03 you will not be able to become licensed there...that is by sitting for boards or transferring in...unless things change. I don't see them changing anytime soon either. If you plan to live in Cali in the future I would look into another program that Cali will accept so you can practice as an RN when you are done. Fortunately I enrolled before the Cali cut off date and have finished the program!

Good luck,

Kim
