Help - Excelsior-Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I am just starting studying for anatomy and physiology 1 and 2. I ordered the book on amazon. Did anybody use any study guides or additional books. I am already an LPN for 20 yrs so this should just be review. Did anyone take the test for excelsior and how was it.

It's a tough exam just because of the sheer volume of material. I recommend taking the EC practice exams so that you can get a feel for the "flavor" of the real exam. Good luck!!

Isilva7,

I took A&P thru Excelsior , and it was very difficult at least the form I had. I study for several months, and still struggled to pass this one! I advise you to study the body mechanics and how different parts of the body functions and what happens when its out of wack. Physiology is tested alot , but so is the anatomy. Again, on the form I had. I had all the recommend text, vangonotes, courseguide and everything else it seemed. I am also an LPN of 12years. I hope this helps. You can send me your email and any questions you might have. I will try to help you as much as possible.

I walked away with an A, but that's with lots and lots of study time and resources involved. I had over 1000 index cards, 2 100 page notebooks and many hours online at different excellent websites, besides time in the textbook. I answered all end of chapter questions, used the cd that came with it, and asked tons of questions. Google anatomy and physiology, or the system you are working on, and there are tons of sites out there that will reinforce what you are reading. Also, I highly recommend doing the pretests through Excelsior for all of your classes. They are extremely helpful. Good luck!

Just an idea, but only because it sounds like so much study time is involved, would you consider taking it online? It is more expensive, but it takes away the 'all or nothing' element.

Where would I take it online? That might be easier

I passed excelsior A&P with an 'A' - i personally didn't find it difficult, but i am the kinda person who likes "facts" to memorize more than stuff you have to wrap your mind around, like abnormal psych, sociology, ect :-)

I used college network (a waste of money, i dont recommend them AT ALL), REA Super Review A&P book & Cliff notes A&P, as well as my LPN A&P book. The REA & cliff notes was about $14 each, and both had enough material to pass the test.

Cliff notes are also online, same info as book, for free. I just like a hard copy to study.

If you havent already, you may want to check with your state board before you make any decisions...some states require that you take the lab for A&P & Microbiology to sit for boards.

Good luck :-)

I couldnt find the REA super review anatomy and physiology

Also check out UC Berkley's online video's of Intergrative Biology. The professor - Marian Diamond is really awsome.
