Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Owl is good. When I'm online and need a quick answer, i head to owl. It's easy to navigate too.

Hey lovinlife, can you clear our your inbox please? :)

How is the last class going, or are you all done? Wanna change places? lol.

Tokmom & Pandorasbox: I was wondering how much weekly reading should I expect?

Hi tokmom!!

I figured out how to clear my inbox and I'm ready to go!! Lol!!

I'm officially lovinlife11 RN, BSN, woot toot! So excited!!

I can't tell you about the last class yet. Just get through these next classes and then i will tell you about it. :)

As far as stats, I never found you tube videos but I did find you could google some of the questions for extra guidance!

Good luck everyone!!

Chapters are assigned each week. I have to say I have yet to read any one chapter from start to finish. I will look at the discussion question and concentrate on what it is asking and go from there. Sometimes if the topic is interesting, I will read more of course, but never a whole chapter.

Each week there is also something called "lecture notes". This I will read completely because the reading is very short and it pertains to one or both of the DQs (discussion questions).

You will also have to provide references for your DQs so Google will become your friend, or even GCU's library. Of course, the sources you use must/should be academic (i.e., NOT Wikipedia).

Hope this helps.

Congratulations lovinlife11 on achieving your BSN! Very exciting!

So.....re: stats. How did you find the class? Is it manageable with just the book they provide, or did you use other books? How do you suggest that we approach this class? This is the one class that instills a bit of fear in me. I'm hoping it is not as bad as the book lQQks.....but I don't know.

Any words of wisdom?

Thank you. As always, you are a great help. Good luck in Stats. I took stats at my local junior college in spring of 2010. I had to email a course description, GCU is going to review it, and hopefully I will not have to take another stats.

Hi pandora!!

The book in stats was not helpful... At all... In my opinion. I survived that class by using google, a lot of times you could get more help that way. I can't remember who taught the class but he was pretty good about helping, I think he knew the book sucked. The class wasn't that bad, no need to stress over it!!

Thanks for the congrats! Super excited to be done! Good luck to you pandora, let me know if you have other questions!

Pandora, just confirmed that I do not need to take stats....so happy....

Good for you casiegarcia! You are very lucky!! Will they make you take another class to fulfill the graduation requirements? If they do, at least you get to take what you want. I'm jealous!!

You are starting at the end of July?

I am starting July 29th. I also talked one of my co-workers into starting with me. I do have to pick an elective class to fulfill graduation requirements. Not sure of what the choices are yet. When do you start stats?

Congrats on becoming a GCU student! Please keep us posted on how you are doing and if we can help, if any. :)

BTW, Pandora starts her stats on the 15th, the same day I do. ;)
