Hi Guys!

Great forum. Thanks to all of you who contribute. Got a Q though. I've graduated from foreign diploma type program back in 1989. I've been licensed in U.S. as an RN since 1993. Also have B.S. in bio/psych (premed), and M.S. in Acupunctcture. Both B.S. and M.S. are earned in U.S, but obviously not in nursing. I attended med school for a while, but for many, many personal reasons cannot continue with the MD route. My goal is now going for FNP, but I need my BSN/MSN:rolleyes: ...after all this schooling:eek: Anyway, transfering my U.S earned credits is not a problem, but getting any info from the country of original nsg ed is a Big problem now. But before my RN license was issued, my State did all the required verifications, and evaluations. So I was wondering if there are any online BSN or MSN (skipping BSN) programs out there, who use current RN license as an admission by endorsement. I know for a fact that my school of nursing was privatized in the late 1990s (Eastern Europe), and since then droped nsg alltogether. I know I could get lisensed by another State by endorsement quite easily, but what about getting admitted to BSN prog? Med schools didn't have any problems, because my premed prereqs were done here. Please, any help is greatly appreciated. School reps are wellcome as well

Thanks a lot

Hello, Papadoc,:nurse:

As far as I know, the requirement is a current license in the U.S., which you have. Have you checked Allnursingschools.com? Just check with an online program there and I am sure your questions can be answered.

Hi Siri!

Yup, I went on that website, requested a bunch of info. I pretty much now have to screen my calls:chuckle. I also spoke with a few online-based programs, they seem to require the eval of my original nsg ed, which was done by my licensing State back in the early 90s, when it still had some academeic value. I'm way past that in my education. It's a "reflex" for most schools to ask for an eval, once they see a foreign ed. I'll keep trying.

Thanks

Why not try a MSN-FNP program? These programs take in non nurses with BS/BA. Then you don't have to worry about the BSN.

But...I'm already an RN, and had been one for a while. The programs you are referring to are for non nurses. I'll check with few other schools. It's just a stupid formality, which I'll have to find a way around.

Anyway, Thanks for your input.

You have a couple of options available to you.

You can have the BON send a copy of your transcripts to the school, have you tried that route?

Did you get a Visa Screen Certificate? If so, CGFNS may have documents in storage someplace.

Does the hospital where you did your training have a copy of your transcripts?

Let me know if none of these suggestions pan out for you.

Hi Suzanne4!

Thanks for your repply. The BON seems like the only viable option at this point. I didn't enter the country on the basis of working here as a nurse. I'm a U.S. citizen for ober 12 years now. And the only requirement for my nsg education verification was sending those foreign school transcripts directly form my school of nursing. It was done, and the comparative ed dept of my State did their own eval, and only then I was eligible to take the NCLEX-RN. So basically my license is the proof of satisfactory completion of the acceptable nursing education. I really hate to revisit the old days of living the in the country, which I left as a refugee. I've done so much more schooling in the U.S. including the med school (for G-d sake). I hope I can jump over those hoops, and formalities.

Thanks for your input and support.

Definitely go with the BON. See what they will do for you. Please let me know.
