by FocusRN Jul 11, '08I was just looking at the state BON website, searching for the term"excelsior" just to see if the are plotting anything, and it was on like five board meeting agendas that Excelsior College wants to hold Clinical Testing at Baton Rouge General. I just wish this would happen before my time comes, I would just have about an hour drive up to BR, and could stay with grandparent inlaws, instead of driving home.

What I am hoping is that, since, the first time it was on the Agenda, was January of this year, that maybe they'll have approval by December.
Truth be told, in my opinion they really don't need the board's approval. I feel this way because the completely online Respiratory Therapy program, located in Cali, and what used to be Deaconess, just got agreements with the preceptors, and the hospitals. In my opinion that is the way it should be . I would be one thing if EC was actually coming down here to, set up a physical school and try to teach courses, but they just want to be able to hold a clinical exam, and I think that can be handled between a facility and a school. However I feel like they may take the step to ask the boards permission, to avoid trouble. Obviously the folks at BR General are on board already, or it wouldn't even be an issue.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
