Excelsior A&P exam...

I've been studying for this darn A&P exam since the beginning of April. I originally scheduled it for April 26th, then changed it to May 1, then May 8th, now I just changed it this morning til May 14th. I've been going off the content guide and studying a lot from the A&P cd I bought from mystudygroup101. The material is broken down and it right there, which is what I like. I took the first Excelsior practice exam and got a 40%! Surely not what I was hoping for! I didn't pass the first time I took this exam. This is my last exam before I can graduate and sit for boards, so I need to pass this time!! Any suggestions on how to retain this info and get it sink in? Right now I'm really wishing I had finished that A&P2 class instead of dropping it!!

Awesome site!! Thanks for posting this.

I did terrible on the Chemical Basis section ... terrible! I'd focus on the Integration and Reg. Mechanisms section and the Maintenance sections because those are the biggest parts of the exam.

If you don't feel ready, why don't you push it back a week or two again? I know you hate to reschedule (I hated to reschedule Micro, but I did, like three times), but I know you're not feeling confident, and I hated going into a test feeling like that.

Another suggestion -- go here: http://www.learnoutloud.com/Catalog/Science/Biology/Biology-2120-Lectures-on-Anatomy-and-Physiology-Podcast/18745

I'm subscribed to the podcast through iTunes. He's a great instructor!!

I changed the test date on my A&P and Micro so many times I lost count. I ended up cancelling them and will be taking it all this summer and fall at my local community college. ugggggg Something to do while I wait for a CPNE test date.

Hello everybody, newbie here...

I signed w/TCN w/out researching enough, but am enrolled in EC. Have passed all exams so far..(have a long way to go) but...am really struggling w/A&P...

There is so much info, that I have a difficult time choosing how much time to spend on each subject. Got the study outline from EC and that has helped some, but wow!

Any study tips would be greatly appreciated.

Barbara, A&P is memorization, pure and simple. Make yourself flash cards or if you can, buy a set.

LOLOL!!! I love this..... so true. I'll be taking this exam in a few months and I must say my memory is not as good as it used to be!!

I also re-scheduled many times for a&p! Darn thing! I ended up passing with no problem doing this: I got the College Network book from a co-worker, skimmed thru the material & took those practice exams at the end of the chapters. Some of it was just review from LPN school. What really helped me though, was Excelsiors practice exam. I read through the correct answers so many times to test 1 & 2, it was memorized and THAT is what helped me pass -- well worth the 60 bucks. The questions on EC practice exam are very similar to the actual test.

Thank you all for your responses. On w/the flash cards and maybe some

ginko!!

And invest the $60 in the EC practice exams for A&P when you've made your first pass of studying ... those practice exams are awesome! :)

I have ? about the study exams. Is there a time limit to the practice test? Do you have enough time to take notes during the test? At the end do they give you a print out and rationale behind the righ or wrong anwers? Thanks ahead of time.

You have two hours to take each practice exam, and each has 100 questions. Each exam has to be completed in one sitting -- you can't come back and finish it later. You have access to the exam and the results for something like 120 days after you register for it, so you can review it for quite a while. I usually took mine towards the end of my studies, so I didn't run out of review time.

You don't get a printout, nor can you print the exams (forbidden by EC), but they do give you rationales for both correct and incorrect answers. They are great study tools.

Yeah, you cannot print out the finished practice exams but you can re-read the rationales as many times as you want on the computer screen. Which is what I did and practically memorized the whole thing.

I am new to Excelsior, LPN to RN. I was wondering if someone could explain the all of the differences between taking the course online vs cd rom. All three that I am thinking of taking are offered both ways, and I would appreciate advice on the pros/cons from some of you that have been there. Thanks!
