Excelsior College or College Network

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

I am eager to find an LPN to RN program. I obtained information on both Excelsior College:uhoh3: and College Network. It appears that the transition maybe easier with Excelsior College but I am not sure. Does anyone know which would be a better choice. LPN for 1 year and ready to move on.

I'm a current student of EC. How can I get an NCLEX-Rn review book? Thanks!!
When the previous poster mentioned NCLEX-RN review books, he was referring to Saunders, Kaplan, Cliffs Test Prep, Lippincott, or any number of review books that can be found on the shelves of typical bookstores.

You can get an NCLEX-RN review book from any major bookstore such as Borders, Barnes & Noble, or over the internet through http://www.amazon.com and http://www.Ebay.com

Don't forget Mosby, that's who I used.

I also got my books from ecampus.com, they were the best deal for used books with free shipping back then, but this was before Ebay existed.

Has it been that long since Al Gore invented the Internet??:lol2:

LOL

Does anybody know if the credits you earn at Excelsior can be used at any other accredited colleges?

Thanks,

I am also considering goin through Excelsior. I do have a few questions however. I have no college credits. How do get your general requirements accomplished? Do you have to take an online class or can you purchase study books and take the exam? On the website, it says that you can take 6 credit exams for 275. Does that mean the exam itself without the online or school classes? The school I was going to for my LPN now has an RN program that includes prereqs. It is a year long and 20k. I would like to attend but I like the idea of not being in a classroom setting right now. How does the price of Excelsior compare to that? Sorry for all of the questions. Thank you in advance for the info.

Does anyone out there know of those who have gone through EC successfully; and are they respected as RN's? I don't have the 20k to go to a college; plus, I work fulltime and must go to college on-line! EC also has an RN to BSN program. Has anyone gone through that? Thanks!

Not all boards of nursing will accept an Excelsior education. California is one prime example that comes from the top of my head.

It's not rocket science to figure out where you can find a NCLEX-RN review book. Have you tried like Barnes & Noble?

That is horrible. A fellow nurse asks a simple question, and you are being rude.:trout: That is a shame.

i guess it is rocket science to be courteous. people come here to share and obtain information in an environment where they can be comfortable and not have to be up tight if they asked a decent question or not.

here's a thread from b&n:

barnes*&*noble.com - book search: rn review

and another for a nursing book club, get 3 books for $1.99, pay shipping and buy another book for i think $15.00 in the year and that's all your membership entails:

healthcare professionals book serviceĀ®: search results

they have a few books i used in school as well. good luck in your education moody!

I apologize for my comment. I am an Excelsior college graduate and proud of it. A lot of people do not approve of Excelsior because of the lack of clinical skills involved in the program. I just thought that your question would add more ammunition to the fire for the people that are against Excelsior. Again, I apologize and moodychick if there is anything I can do to help you out in the program, please do not hesitate to contact me.
