ec nerves

  1. I started taking my prereqs at cc, but am considering EC. I am just looking to hear from people in the program; or people who have finished the program. I am kind of scared of the cpne. I have no hospital experience. All my work experience as an lvn has been ltc, and rehab, a small amount of ltac. any suggestions ? Helpful comments or ideas?

Just like TX I am scared to death of the CPNE, but, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. If you can, see if you can shadow in the hospital, or something like that. If not, just wait until you are CPNE eligible, set up your own little lab, and get to work.

I guess that is pretty normal then ? The kind of ,Oh spit , can I really do this feeling?
How many test have you taken? Are the test butt kickers?
How much longer do you have till your cpne? How did you get hospital experienc as lvn?

your in tarrant county right. i have worked at various hospitals via agency. i trained at jps and have worked at baylor all saints (before they went all rn) , huguley plus the various rehabs in the area kindred , lifecare and healthsouth. i have taken nc1 and passed . i of course am exempt from nc2 and waiting to test for nc 6 and 7. i have nc 3-5 paid for but i never do anything by the book and i'm going at it backwards. i will attend several workshops for the cpne and will not take a cancellation date so i can get in more practice.

thanks. and by the way Howdy Neighbor . So you have some good hospital experience going in to the ec program. How was you first test? How long did you study for it?

I have the same nerves as you do.I just got my LPN license and just bought all the books to start studying for the New EC curriculum. Im pretty sure I can pass the exams but am I setting my self up for Failure for the CPNE with no hospital experience. I am very detail oriented when it comes to skills. We had to do skills check offs in school where we pulled randomly out of the hat. I am planning to attend CPNE workshops and pray that the new EC curriculum will help me to prepare.

I don't work at a hospital either so I was really nervous about the CPNE also and when I told someone at EC, they set me up with a phone appointment with one of the testers. She set my mind...and nerves...more at ease about the test. If you are really nervous about it, call EC and speak to someone. They seem very helpful.

Just remember that if all of the EC grads walking around can pass the CPNE then you can too. Corny but true.
