EC Background check

I was Just curious if anyone knows how strict EC background checks are. Not that I am a criminal or anything, My brother-in-law(who is now incarcerated)stole some checks from my husband and I and forged my signature and caused several checks to bounce( like 8 years ago). Like an idiot, hoping he would straighten out didn't press charges. I ended up on probation until they were paid because the checks had already gone to State's attorney. To make a long story short, did probation and paid everything and all is clear now and has been for years, I just am hoping that something stuphid like this will not keep me from furthering my education.

I just found on the EC site that there is a background check that can be completed in 3-5 days instead of 8-12 WEEKS. MyBackgroundCheck.com is the web page it seems to be about $12.00. This seems like the way to go. It's cheaper and quicker. You need to put in the code D9Q33 on the home page and it'll come up with the Excelsior package. Just print out the certificate in a few days when it's available and send it with you CPNE app.

It's hard to believe that it's cheaper and quicker but I called Excelsior and that assure me it's true.

I already ordered the FBI one but I don't think it will arrive in time. By the time I found a place to do my fingerprints who had someone available (many agencies around here have gone to once a week for the public) it will be cutting it VERY close to the deadline. There just wasn't enough time between being notified of my test date and the background is due 45 days ahead of time.

This provides me another option, other people must have expressed the same concern because this option wasn't available or mentioned several weeks ago.

I am, however, having trouble getting the website to work right. I put in my new account information and it just sits there. I'll call tomorrow morning if it still isn't working right, right now I see the package information window come up but I don't see any "application" to print and fax, nor any way to pay online.

Thanks again! I can rest a little easier.

i thought though it had to be an fbi search? and that you had to get fingerprinted (which i already paid to do). it seems with this website they do everything electronically?

ec said it was acceptable? i tried to get on ec's website, it's not working for me right now....my computer is acting up again.

if this is legit, it will be great! no need to wait 3 months for your report to come back...

finally got on ec's website and read about the "mybackgroundcheck" service. sounds good to me.

does anyone know how long it's good for? i am finished with my nursing exams, just taking my prereqs now, still debating which ones to take (clep or ec?). i need english, humanities, psych, sociology. i'm done with a&P and micro, took both through ec. so i am not sure how long it will be before i am cpne eligible, and i don't want the background check to expire before i am able to send in my app.
