Capella flex path

  1. Is anyone enrolled in the Capella RN to BSN flex path program? If so, how do you like it so far? I am in the traditional program, pulling A's and was recently inducted into the honor society; I am thinking of switching formats and I would love some feedback.

I just started the flexpath program this month. I like it so far. So far I have been able to do an assessment a week, so hoping to be done within a year. I took some classes with Excelsior and felt the discussion part took a lot of time. I like that flexpath does not require discussions.

When you write "an assesments a week" what does that mean? Is that for one class or different classes? Do you have to write papers?

Each course has a different amount of assessments. I'm in the first Nursing course which has four assessments. Basically they are different papers with certain requirements. They tell you exactly what is required for each paper.

Sounds like it is just doing the readings and writing the papers. Realistically how many classes do you think you can complete in the 12 week semester?

I'm hoping for 3 every 12 week semester. But, some courses may have more assessments then others, so not sure.

Does anyone know if there is a maximum number of classes you can take per 12 weeks? Do they actually give a you a grade or is it pass/fail like WGU?

You can take as many courses as you want in the 12 weeks. When you are done with one you move on to the next. It is pass/not pass, but I was told they would convert it to a GPA if you need them to, not sure the process for that though.

I just finished my first course, it took me four weeks. I finished one paper a week, a few times I had to correct a few things and resubmit, mainly APA format issues. But, while I was waiting for my evaluation I would start the next assessment. I work about 32 hours a week, but also had to get my house ready to be on the market. This was my first course, so not sure if all of them will be as quick, but I like this program WAY better than Excelsior's online program!!

I agree with Delynn. It is very doable. All assignments are a mix of papers and powerpoints. My first session started on June 6th and I did 5 courses in my first 12 week period. My second 12 week session started on August 28, and I just started my 7th course. I work 72 hours a pay period and my kids are in school Mon through Fri so I get my work done on my off days when no one is home. I to do at least one draft assessment/day and keep moving on to the next. Once they are all graded, I submit a request confirming that am done with the course, and the next course is opened automatically within 6 hrs of that submission request (it has never taken that long, even in the weekends). I really like the program and am glad my advisor touched base on it when I started looking for an RN-BSN online program. Let me know if you have any other questions.

An update on my progress. I was able to finish 3 courses in my first 12 week period. Most courses have been 4 papers/power points per course, I think one had five. I would have been a little quicker but we just moved so that took up some time. I'm also currently working full time until I'm off orientation. But I feel I'm still going much quicker than a traditional program. And I like that I can do something like move and not worry about getting assignments turned in by a certain time.

Hello and welcome to flexpath! Am in my second last course which has 6 assessments (papers and a powerpoint): BSN 4017-Collaborative Group Process Nursing. I hope to finish my degree next month. I will tell you that I have enjoyed the program very much! A lot of energy put into it and I believe my nursing experience helped me progress quickly in the program. Welcome again!
