I am interested in getting my MSN online because of conflicts with work, family, schedules. ANyone checked into these? Completed an online MSN?

I completed my MSN FNP on line, but the distance learning (DL) college I went to (Gonzaga in Washington) required 2-3 days per month on compus. I am sure there are some all online programs. I did well but I know of others that do not do well with DL. You have to have the ability to make yourself study and be on your own. My sister tried it with her MSW and could not do it.

I have 6 kids, work full time and found it much easier to do my work when kids were watching TV, napping, late at night, or what ever.

You have to be a person that can work alone and teach yourself on many things, look stuff up and be prepared to "make" yourself do "class" when you don't feel like it.

You also need to have a pretty good grasp of computer stuff (some of my classmates had never sent an attachement and really had a difficult time).

Do much research to see where to go, ther are many differences, especially price. I am geting my post-masters this fall and for my MSN I paid $675 per credit, for my PM I found a school for less than half that, and it is a great university (University of Southern Alabama).

If you are wanting to specialize (like FNP or whatever) I don't know of any that are totally all on-line and may require you to spend some time on campus. They may be out there but I can't imagine doing that kind of work with no face-to-face instuction.

Good Luck!

I'm currently enrolled in Liberty U. DLP MSN Acute care tract DLP. I've only taken 2 classes but they have been well organized and I've learned a lot!!!

Neither have been easy. I will start Advance Pharm in a couple of weeks.

Check them out online.

I am currently enrolled in Frontier School of Midwifery & Family Nursing (FSMFN) doing the FNP program and you are required to attend 4 days at the beginning of your program, it is located in KY; and then right before your clinicals, usually mid track if you are full time (2 Yr program) and approx 2 years into your part time track for 8 days.

Great programs for Family nursing, Womens health or midwifery. US News and world report rates this school as one of the best in the country. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

fgoff,

are you still enrolled in Liberty U.? If so, how is it going? Do you find it difficult to up keep w/ the classes while working full time? I applied to Liberty's MSN- acute care track this past week. I plan to start Jan '09 but I am really anxious. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Indiana State has several MSN programs that are all online with local clinicals.
