Hi all

Desperately trying to find an online 8 week microbiology class (preferably no prerequisite needed) for late fall towards November or December of this year (have a heavy course load at the moment), any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You sign up through edukan, not Colby but you pick Colby as your home college. Pretty easy to do. I bought the book as I do not like the online book.

I know this is old but Stash11 or anyone else who has taken edukan class. Any issues transferring into nursing program? I have to give course description and I went into all the schools in Ks that you can choose from and it either doesn't say any lab in description or says "online" which I feel will hinder chances to getting Into program. The person who checks credit transfers from University of Alaska, where I am applying, told me she has accepted University of Phoenix since they are regionally accredited but they are so expensive per class and I'm nervous they will lose accreditation soon as they are up for assessment right now and there's a chance of them being put on probation or "notice" status.

U of P being put on probation? For what?

Are all the labs online for the online micro? It's the only pre req I'm missing to apply for the nursing program and would love to busy it out much quicker do I can apply. Anyone had trouble with their schools not accepting it?

Depends which school you are asking. If your talking about edukan then yes. That's solely online courses for the Kansas school you choose

Also so you know. I was going to do all my course here however it's less expensive through Clovis community college. 89/credit plus 50 for online and some other fee like 20? Either way with the materials it comes out to $100 less

And they have a 4credit micro. It doesn't hurt to have a 5 credit but every school I would be going to asks for 4 and it obviously makes a cost difference per credit

At Edukan the online lab is a "virtual lab" and it is just as if you were in a traditional classroom lab. Clovis is cheaper also, but I don't know anything about that lab at all.

Also look at Clovis Community College. Online biology, chemistry, and micro classes. Cheap tuition $89/ credit hour for non-resident. Too bad I didn't see this sooner as you could of gotten in on summer session

Thanks for the replies! This is exciting, I might be able to save myself 8 months if waiting around!

Ashes, I'm as excited as you when I found this. I'm registered for fall but am considering paying more to get in another that is shorter idk. Clovis is 16 weeks and I haven't gotten an answer from the professor as far as us moving ahead of schedule, which is why I love online courses. But when I looked at a sample syllabus from 2008 it says nothing will be graded until after its due. It's 16 weeks! As far as the lab, you have to buy a dissection kit but its pretty inexpensive. My understanding is you take pictures of the dissection of the fetal pid. It's as much as $58 through their bookstore but I've found it for less on amazon and even less on some other sites. It's 89/credit plus 50. One class comes out to 466, I think some of those fees are only charged once so you can save money by taking more. If you are military spouse you get resident pricing at 39/cr!! Monday ill be faxing my I'd card to get tuition reduced
