Honors Nurses With 2004 "Nurse Excellence Awards"
West Florida Hospital recently awarded five health care personnel with its top nursing awards--the 2004 Nurse Excellence Awards--at a special reception held in May during Nurse's Week. The annual awards recognize exemplary nurses and support personnel that have made a difference in patient care through demonstration of clinical expertise.
The winners were selected from a total of 60 nominees in five categories: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Nurse Manager/Educator/ARNP, Support Staff, and the "Spirit Award." The Spirit Award is given annually to the West Florida Hospital nurse who best exemplifies the caring, compassionate spirit of nursing.
The winners of this year's awards were: Lila Lowery, RN, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (Category: Registered Nurse); Ginny White, LPN, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (Category: Licensed Practical Nurse); Lema Shiver, RN, Pavilion (Category: Nurse Manager/Educator/ARNP); Paul Hermance, Emergency Department (Category: Support Staff); and Olivia Church, RN, CCU (Category: "Spirit Award").
Along with other local facilities, West Florida Hospital's winners also participated earlier this month in the annual awards ceremony sponsored by the Florida Nurses Association.
